Egyptian History Research Paper

After exploring throughout the many different civilizations that we were asked to look at I ultimately decided to go with Egyptian history. Before I made that decision, I went to check out the Chinese and Japanese culture and was intrigued while I was up there. It was interesting to see an old samurai armor set and Katana. Ultimately, I decided after about an hour of searching that I would choose Sekhmet. For those of you that looked at it, it was largest statue they had on exhibit. It is a woman sitting on a chair or throne with what appears to be a lioness head on top. This was a god that the name Sekhmet literally means “the powerful one.” This god was revered because it was believed that she embodied the power and strength of the sun.
But looking back to 1390 BC, we see that women were worshiped not only in life but also portrayed as gods. While looking through the room, we can see that for their time the Egyptians were advancing technology. Not only with tools but the preservation of people and object. A lot of delicate work went in that now has given us stuff throughout the ages. I feel that a lot of this had to do with them settling down by the Nile, so they had a fresh water source, where they could focus on advancements. “Further, transportation on the Nile was simplified by the fact that the prevailing winds blew from the north, while the river flowed south…” This helped their culture grow in ways that had not been seen before them. During the time they settled in the best place possible. “The Egyptians were blessed with the easier and more reliable of the two rivers.” I was torn between two different pieces, Coffin of Na-Menkh- Amen and Sekhmet. The reason for this is because I have always been fascinated that they were able to preserve bodies better than almost an object in history. I finally decided Sekhment because the statue was approximately seven hundred years older. I feel that this statue stood for
