“For me, its that I contributed, … That I’m on this planet doing some good and making people happy. That to me is the most important thing, that my hour of television is positive and upbeat and an antidote for all the negative stuff going on in life.” – Ellen DeGeneres. Ellen DeGeneres is a talk show host who is very big in pop culture and uses her status to help out people who are going through some difficult stuff, such as; being gay, family problems and maybe stress from work.
If you did not know already, Ellen DeGeneres is homosexual. She helps other people about it because she’s had some help from her friends and family. Madonna, a good friend of Ellen’s, gave Ellen words of encouragement before she came out in 1997. When she did come out her first girlfriend publicly was Alexandra Hedison. After a year or two they called it off and Ellen moved onto a woman named Portia De Rossi, her wife now. They were perhaps the highest-profile gay marriage after California legalized, and they had their wedding in their own home. Ellen seems like she can use her voice very well since she’s very big in pop culture. She can do this by; interviewing people who go through the same thing that someone from the audience is going through and they can reflect from that, she also can tweet about it since she has many followers on twitter. All these things are what Ellen is capable of by using her voice.
