Finding meaning in "El turismo es un gran invento"
El Turismo es un Gran Invento (Tourism is a Great Invention) is a Spanish film that came out in 1968. The film was directed by Pedro Lazaga alongside Pedro Maso as the primary producer. The shots of villages and beaches were done in Torrelaguna and Marbella, as well as their surroundings, respectively. The tourism market is always full of luxury, comfort, and enjoyment of varied nature. With this in mind, those who are not endowed with such natural amenities are usually forced to invent or to some extent promote the existing ones as though they owned them. This calls for creativity and innovation whether you own or promote ‘something.' The sequences unveil how cultural activities can be of use when it comes to change where the coastal people and the rural Aragonese exchange cultural ideas to make this once isolated village, a tourist’s attraction (From Bullfights to Bikinis 25). The presence of hotels, restaurants, and hostels give the interior city a new look and a new meaning and instead of community members migration to towns, they now come back to develop their hometown together with tourists. The story revolves around the coast and Aragon and how the previously secluded society turns into a town with opulent buildings.
