There should be more efficient ways of transportation for them to participate in these activities. In my community, there are some seniors who don't drive and their only means of transportation is the public bus. Unfortunately, there has been occasions when seniors had to travel long distances to reach a bus stop and put their life at risk when traveling on dangerous streets. According to the National Council of aging, 41% of seniors aren't satisfied with the transportation support. This means of transportation also doesn't allow flexibility for seniors to participate in the activities that will help them socialize with others. Organizations that offer seniors activities for social involvement should provide an efficient means of transportation that picks them up at home and takes them back home.
Consequently, social isolation causes some seniors experience psychological health problems due to the social isolation they experience from society. As seniors start to age and lose their loved ones they can be vulnerable to feeling depressed due to feeling alone. Humans are meant to socialize with others and not having anyone to socialize with can affect their psychological state.
