Eleanor's Metaphor-Personal Narrative
I had stumbled upon Them accidentally. In the dark, all the paths looked the same, and something, some strange sort of power, had lured me here. The cavern glistened with eerie blue lights, fluttering around the room, never staying still for long. Welling up from the deep caves, the sound of soft music could be heard – pipes, harps, and enchanting, mystical singing. Below the balcony of rock where I sat, I could see figures scurrying about with trays laden with rich food, chattering to one another in birdlike voices.

“Please...” my voice was small, quivering, but it was there. “I have a wife, children... They will starve without me.” I hadn't seen Eleanor in nearly a year. All the money I had left, after feeding myself, went to her and my boys, but the poaching season was over now, and I could finally go home. If I made it out of here, that was.

“Children? How many? Do you love them dearly? We are ever so fond of children.” Something in her voice filled me with dread. I didn't want to put them in any danger, but my mouth moved without my consent, her presence commanding me to speak.
“Six... I do, with everything I have.” My pride tossed aside, I began to beg. “I will do anything, give you anything, please, I must go back to them.”

She laughed. A chilling, terrifying laugh. “Very well.” I had not expected her to agree so easily. “You may leave here, unharmed, on two conditions.” That didn't sound so hard. What could she possibly want? She was a witch, a fairy Queen. She had everything.

“The first; You do not speak a word of what you have seen, not even to your wife. You must keep it a secret until you die.” I could have laughed – that was easy. If I told, they would lock me up and call me a madman. “Do you agree?”

It seemed like I was wandering into a different dimension. My senses were becoming acquainted to new feelings: guttural whispers, excruciating odour, ponderous glass-like air and the cemented, pungent, taste of death! As I opened the door candlelight rose to greet me but who lit them? I was informed that the secluded house I was purchasing has been unoccupied forever.…

Old Night approached the door of the ancient room unviewed in more than a millennia opening the door with a slight wave of the hand. The ancient door adorned with gold and silver filigree with depictions of the two elvish races adorned in mithrill and ebony touching palms above a mass of bones, opened silently and smoothly, air rushing past into the chamber pulling the cob webs apart slinging them helplessly to the sides of the passage. the frail man seemingly floated across the threshold of the stagnant chamber not disturbing even the dust that had settled on the floor the room was lit by candles that forever burned giving a warm yet ominous glow that gave the…

Everyone has a different view on life. One's perception can significantly impact the way that he/she views the rest of the world. This perception can be both positive and negative. Perception often plays a big role in determining how one is viewed by both themselves and others. People are often judged by their appearance and their actions. However, it is things such as their personality and their character that truly define them as individuals. In Budge Wilson's "The Metaphor," Miss Hancock is faced with the fact that other individuals often overlook her. Though others may not be aware of what they are doing, their actions can greatly impact another individual throughout their lifetime. The way that one is perceived can both positively and negatively affect the way that others view them as an individual, which can greatly affect their entire life.…

Almost before I knew it, yet another day had turned to sunlit evening. Lost in the tattered pages of an ancient tome I had been studying, I hadn’t even noticed the passage of time as it crept, with the lightest of footfalls, through the day. It wasn’t until I heard the great bell atop the castle toll, its peals reverberating across the land, that my intense concentration was disturbed. “This should be a good stopping point … I guess I’ll call it a day.”…
