Election Ray-Ray Michael Abrahams Summary

The article entitled “Election ray-ray” written by Michael Abrahams published in The Gleaner on February 26, 2016. The author focus his discussion on the topic, lunacy surrounding election, his purpose is to persuade the intended audience that there is too much “trash talk” surrounding our pre-elections and that we should have fixed election dates.
According to Abrahams the clock has called time on Election Day leaving under four weeks to prepare for the election, this he believed is one of the advantages the prime minister has, has it allows campaigns to be strategically short. The political invectives “trash talk” escalated within both parties as the author highlights the flaws of the political campaigns while setting a platform as to why
The author was persuasive throughout his dissertation. He prove his assertion to be true with the use of evidence by quoting both party leaders on matters relating to his title “election ray-ray”.
The organization structure of this passage is that of an expository writing as the author uses illustration to demonstrates and support his point through the use of evidence. There is also evidence of problem and solution. The author illustrated that chatter has reached a new level as he quoted the PNP demanding information regarding funding for Mr. Holness’s property. He also expressed the problem of having to wait on the prime minister to be touched by her master before the election date could be set, and gives solution that he believes that election dates should be fixed.
