Moving from High School to college is often a rollercoaster on the mind of most students. After the appliance and acceptance process, we then encounter a bigger question: What will our major be? As a computer and technology lover, I had a hard time understanding and choosing between computer science and computer engineering; even though I already knew that I wanted to study computers. People often think that studying computer science is the same as studying computer engineering, but these two important fields of computing are significantly different. I decided to start doing some research on the main differences between both and ended up realizing that I was not the only one on this dark road. Surprisingly, many other students had the same questions I had (some of them worse), so that made me feel better. I ended up choosing computer engineering with the hopes of maybe minoring in Computer Science or Software. One other reason is the fact that my sister is already a computer science undergraduate, and we don 't really want two Sebastiaos on the same field. The goal is to take over the world in the different areas! But what is the difference between both? If in fact, there is any.…

Computer Science interests me because it incorporates both logic and systematic working with a form of speed and automation that could never be achieved by an individual. My first experience of this was when I observed a programmed onscreen "turtle" complete complex movements; this showed me the strong link between mathematical knowledge and its practical application. AS Computing furthered this, which enabled me to program my own Snake-esque game at home, showing me how I could apply mathematical skills, such as method and logic, to computers. I enjoy looking at as many outcomes as possible in terms of a program, for example how the program should react if a certain circumstance occurs, regardless of likelihood, yet still maintaining a level of efficiency.…

Electrical Engineers research, develop, design, and test electronic components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, medical, military, and scientific applications (Cosgrove 749). They are concerned with devices that use small amounts of electricity that make up electronic components such as integrated circuits and microprocessors. By applying principles and techniques of electronic engineering they design, develop, and manufacture products such as computers, telephones, radios, and stereo systems (EGOE, 121). Electrical engineers touch everyone lives through the things they have designed or created. Electrical engineers have invented the lights in your house, the television, the stereo, the telephone, computers, and even your doctor’s blood pressure gauge (Stine 300).…

A career in electrical engineering means solving problems associated with large-scale electrical systems. Sometimes the term is used to include electronic engineering but jobs in this field involve small scale systems such as computers and integrated circuits.it might be said that a job in electronic engineering involves transmitting information and a job in electrical engineering involves transmitting energy. Alternatively electronics power transmission control system signal processing and telecommunications are sub-fields of electrical engineering. The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers has over 365,000 members in 150 countries and is the largest group of scientists with technical careers in the world. Many careers in electrical engineering require an academic degree with a major in electrical engineering. The degree may be a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or a doctorate. A job in electrical engineering often involves doing physics, computer science, mathematics. According to the U. S. Bureau of Labor Statistics engineering graduates with obtain some of the highest salaries in the country. Those graduates staring out in the electrical engineering field earned more than $60,000 per year on average. As a whole electrical engineers earned an average yearly salary of almost $90,000. Electrical engineers can choose to work in a industries including telecommunications, computer, aerospace, and manufacturing industries. They can progress their career even further by specializing in specific areas. You can easily change to a different field within electrical engineering. There is great fluidity within the different fields. Some of the disadvantages is that job growth in the electrical engineering field from 2008-2018 is anticipated to be a mere 2%.
