Electrical engineering
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Electrical engineering is a field of engineering that generally deals with the study and application of electricity, electronics and electromagnetism. The field first became an identifiable occupation in the late nineteenth century after commercialization of the electric telegraph and electrical power supply. It now covers a range of subtopics including power, electronics, control systems, signal processing and telecommunications. Electrical engineering may include electronic engineering. Where a distinction is made, usually outside of the United States, electrical engineering is considered to deal with the problems associated with large-scale electrical systems such as power transmission and motor control, whereas electronic engineering deals with the study of small-scale electronic systems including computers and integrated circuits.[1] Alternatively, electrical engineers are usually concerned with using electricity to transmit energy, while electronic engineers are concerned with using electricity to process information. More recently, the distinction has become blurred by the growth of power electronics.

The history of electrisity leads right back to more than two thousand years ago. Ancient Greeks discovered that rubbing fur on amber caused an attraction between the two. Many electricity-related discoveries had been made by the 17th century, including the differentiation between negative and positive currents, the classification of matireals as conductors or insulators , and the invention of the of a basic electrostatic generator. Continuing on to 1600’s, William Gilbert, an English Physician, connected the term electic with the force that certain substances create when rubbed against another. In 1800 Alessandro Volta invented an early electric battery he called a Voltaic pile. This produced a steady electric current, and this lead to the discovery that particular chemical reactions created electricity. Only once Michael Faraday created the ‘Faraday disk’ (the first power generator) along with the theory of Electromagnetic induction [1](“Faraday's Law, discovered in 1831 by Michael Faraday, states that the induced electromotive force in a closed circuit is equal to the time rate of change of the magnetic flux through the circuit. Under Faraday's Law, electric current is induced only if either the magnetic field is changing or the conductor is moving. Generators, for example, spin a coil of wire around a magnet to produce a steady current” [3]) did electricity become viable for use in technology. Since this electricity and the inventions that came with it has exploded as the worlds knowledge of electromagnitism has broadends and advances.…

Electricity was first researched by Thales of Miletos around 600BC. He conducted a few experiments on static electricity in which he believed that friction made amber become magnetized. Other than the fact that people knew that eels produced electric shocks, electricity was little more than an intellectual curiosity for over 2000 years. Until 1600 when someone from England discovered the lodestone effect when amber with static would attract small objects towards it. In the 18th century, Benjamin Franklin did much research on electricity and sold his possessions to fund his research. He was said to have tied a key to a damp string attached to a kite and flew it into an electrical storm. He watched as sparks jumped from the key to the back of his hand discovering that lightning was electrical.…

When the science of electricity really got going in the mid 1800s, inventors everywhere were clamoring to devise a practical, affordable electrical home lighting device. Englishman Sir Joseph Swan and American Thomas Edison both got it right around the same time (in 1878 and 1879, respectively), and within 25 years, millions of people around the world had installed electrical lighting in their homes. The easy-to-use technology was such an improvement over the old ways that the world never looked back.…

First of all, Electronics Engineering is my field of study, it would be typical that workers go to houses to replace, install or fix any issues with electronics devices. To illustrate this better, if a customer is having difficulties with the installation of their internet router, they will call the company responsible and the company may send one or two technicians that will follow the problem through and figure out what is the most likely problem and finally fix it. Electronics Engineering is a field that requires the interaction of both customer and technicians, it is essential that they both cooperate in order to solve the problem as soon as possible.…
