Electronic Flight Information
System
• An Electronic Flight Information System
(EFIS) is a flight deck instrument system in which it uses electronic to display instead of electromechanical. • The Electronic system display the primary flight and navigational data
• It is normally in a liquid-crystal display
Advantages of using EFIS
• Low cost.
• New software can be updated to extend it's capabilities.
• It is more convenient as it is clustered together.
• Enhance reliability.
• Reduce weight.
• Simplify installation.
Electronic Display System
Normally consists of :
• Primary Flight Display (PFD)
• Multi-function display (MFD) or Navigational Display (ND)
• Engine Indicating and Crew Alerting System (EICAS) display. Primary Flight Display (PFD)
Primary Flight Display or PFD is a modern aircraft instruments which shows all flight information ( like airspeed, altitude, attitude, vertical speed etc.) all in one. Primary flight display gives a good representation of the aircraft's current flight state. It also simplifies the pilot's workflow.
Navigational Display
• The ND (Navigational Display) displays navigational and weather information from multiple systems.
• Can also be use to view other non-overlay type of data(e.g., current route plan) and calculated overlaytype data (e.g., winds, aircraft speed and altitude).
• Multi-function display can also display information about aircraft systems, such as fuel and electrical systems. Engine Indicating and Crew
Alerting System (EICAS)
• EICAS displays information about the aircraft’s system,
including its fuel, electrical and propulsion system.
• EICAS improve situational awareness by allowing the aircrew to view complex information
