Electronic Medical Record Essay
Electronic medical records are very useful and efficient when it comes to keeping a record of a patient's medical history. The program that I will be referring to today is called PMR (Patient medical record), and it's built with the same concept of electronic medical record systems that are used in most practices. EMR’s have multiple advantages that paper records can’t match such as quick access, cloud storage, and multiple copies. Adding a new patient problem to the patient problem list, a new medication, or note is quite simple in PMR.
First and foremost anytime a user accesses the PMR database, they must sign in to the system. Anytime the system is closed the user will have to sign in once again to keep the patient's information private. Once the user is signed in, the creation of a new patient's record can then commence. Find the “new” tab in the toolbar at the top left of the screen. This will give you options on what you want to create or add, but for this case, we will be using the new patient option.

To add a new problem to the patient problem list open the patient's record then on the right of the screen there is a box with tabs, one of the options is problems list. Open the problems list and the previous list of problems will appear, to add a new one simply click on add problem. Once the problem is added you have successfully added a new problem to the medical record.
Adding a new medication to the patient's record is similar to adding a problem. A new medication can be added multiple ways, but for now, we will look at one method. First, go to the top left corner of the screen and click new. Next, choose to add new medication, then a window will appear where you can search for the medication. If the medication is not in the system, you can simply add it yourself just so long as you put the dosage and how often it needs to be

    New patients need to go through the preregistration process which is where the collection of information begins. This process is started before the patient enters the office for an appointment. When a new patient calls for an appointment the information that is usually gathered is the patients full name, telephone number, address, date of birth, gender, reason for the appointment, and if the patient was referred.
