Electronic Medical Record in the sport medicine field
The sport medicine and a demanding and competitive field for any clinician on the field. It require daily updates of athletes’ injuries statues and progress in the treatment and rehabilitation progress. The sport medicine team is constituted by team physician, athletic trainer, coaches, psychologist, athlete, and parents. Due to the amount of personnel involved in the sport medicine team, the communication within the team is vital for the functioning and understanding of each part. Therefore, by the use of electronic database software physician, and athletic trainer are allowed to develop more accurate and reliable medical records that show the progress of the injury treatment and rehabilitation, and at the same time the system keeps record of all the modalities and response protocols to an injury which show that the clinicians did not cause further harm, and the they are following the code of ethics established by the federal and state organizations.
In addition to these essential functions, SIMS provided additional features such as “SIMSAnywhere” which allow the clinician to connect to the data base from any browser, and supported electronic devise when the clinician is away from the office. This feature will allow the practitioner to record the injury incident on a shorter time period which will increase the accuracy of it.
In sum, the Sport Injury Monitoring System (SIMS) developed by Flan Tech is a reliable database software that will aid the sport medicine team to perform in a higher level by improving the communication within the team by allowing the clinicians to develop more precise medical records, and at the same time it will reduce the liability
