Elements in the Periodic Table Trivia

l Actinium (Ac) - radioactive element found in uranium ores, used in equilibrium with its decay products as a source of alpha rays. The name originates from the Greek word 'aktinos' meaning ray or beam. l Argon (Ar) - they don't often interact with other elements. This caused early mappers of the periodic table, such as Dmitri Mendeleev, to think of them as proud and noble. l Carbon (C) - can take the form of one of the hardest substances (diamond) or one of the softest (graphite). And it’s made in the interiors of stars, though it was not produced in the Big Bang. l Helium (He) - element named after the Greek Sun God(Helios) .Helium balloon floats because Helium is lighter than air. Also If you breathe it, you’ll get a squeaky voice and it’s expelled with alpha radiation. l Holmium (Ho) -This metal has been used to create the strongest artificial magnetic fields and in nuclear control rods. While most metals are a consistent silver color, holmium oxide has some fairly dramatic color changes depending on the lighting conditions. While in daylight, it is a tan - yellow color, under trichromatic light, it is a bright - orange red. l Hydrogen (H)- the most abundant element. Also, It is the primary fuel source of the sun, but it was the caused for Hindenburg zeppelin to burn so rapidly. l Lead (Pb) - It was considered to be one of the roots of the fall of Rome. Its chemical symbol comes from the way it was used in Roman time’s .Lead also excellent for blocking radiation, but it can poison you all the same. l Neon (Ne) – when contained in a vacuum tube ,lets out a reddish light when electricity is passed through it. A lot of light is produced in relation to the power consumed. l Nickel (Ni) – is the derivation of German Nicholaus .Just as the “Old Nick “ German Nickel, a diminutive of Nick, became a name for a devil, demon or similar bad spirit. l Magnesium

My element name is Boron. My slogan is my symbol is B! I 'm right at the top of Group IIIB! When the first time seen my element is in the PT. boron symbol is B and is in Group IIIB. Two of them are having B. It looks very simple. I think that is very fun idea, so I just use this for my slogan. Boron is a chemical element with chemical symbol B and atomic number 5. It is in period 2, Group 13 element that has properties which are nonmetals. The name boron comes from the Arabic and Persian words for borax. Boron was discovered by Sir Humphrey Davy, Joseph-Louis Gay-Lussac, and L.J. Thénard at 1808 in England, France. Boron exists in the earth 's crust to the extent of only about 10 ppm. Boron is solid and black. It is very hard and in extremely pure form is nearly as hard as diamond, but much too brittle for practical use. The atomic mass is 10.811g. Density is 2.34g/cm^3. Melting point is 3769︒F and boiling point is 7101︒F.Siilicon is the closely related elements with boron. Boron is used in pyrotechnics and flares to produce a green color. Boron has also been used in some rockets as an ignition source. Boron is used to control nuclear reactions. It is an excellent neutron absorber. Alloyed with steel or reacted with carbon, titanium or zirconium, it is used in control rods for nuclear reactors Boron is an essential nutrient for all green plants…

It is commonly used, but has less versatile applications then helium. Neon is most commonly used in consumer and professional electronics. Neon is most commonly used in advertising. The neon is put in specially bent glass tubes to make distinct shapes or words to be illuminated. When electricity is added to this gas filled tube the neon emits light effectively creating a neon sign. Neon isn’t only used in lighting for its iconic neon signs. Neon, being usable in extremely cold places, is very valuable as a high altitude lighting system such as in aircraft beacons or in the aircraft themselves. Neon is also employed in some vacuum tubes for analog amplification. Not only is neon used in electrical components, but is also used to often shield electronics from lightning strikes in lightning arresters. Additionally, when combined in a mixture with the aforementioned element helium, neon is also employed in helium neon lasers. From consumer lights to industrial lasers, neon is used in more electronics than one might…

Any of the six nonmetallic elements that constitute Group 17 (Group VIIa) of the periodic table. The halogen elements are fluorine (F), chlorine (Cl), bromine (Br), iodine (I), astatine (At), and element 117 (temporarily named ununseptium [Uus]). They were given the name halogen, from the Greek roots hal- (“salt”) and -gen (“to produce”), because they all produce sodium salts of similar properties, of which sodium chloride—table salt, or halite—is best known.…
