Eli Whitney is an American inventor he was born on December 8, 1765 in Westboro ,massachusetts and he died in 1825. Whitney studied in yale before inventing the anything. He grew up in a farm and had an affinity for machine work and technology. When he was youth during the revolutionary …show more content…
Then in 1789 Whitney strated to attend yale college and graduated in 1791 and he wanted to become a lawyer. When he was about to graduate Whitney was hired to be a tutor in South Carolina. He decided to go and in his way to his new position via boat, he met Catherine Greene. The widow of a Revolutionary war general. Though green-seed cotton was widely available it took hours of manual labor to clean it. So Whitney worked thought the winter to devise a machine that was able to quickly and efficiently clean cotton. The machine used a system of hooks, wires and a rotating brush. That was the first invention he ever made.Whitney and miller patented the gin in 1794 with the aim of producing and installing gins though the south and charging farmers. Whitney spent years in legal battles and by the turn of the century agree to license gins an affordable rate. Whitney’s venture would involve the production of arms and champion the interchangeable parts system. Whitney devised milling machines that would allow laborers to slice metal by a pattern and produce one particular, specific part of a weapons. They faced many challenges with the new systems. They 10 years for him to compleat the manufacturer of …show more content…
You may ask. Milling is the machining process of using rotary cutters to remove material from a workpiece by advancing (or feeding ) in a direction at an angle with the axis of the tool. It covers a wide variety of different operations and machines, on scales from small individual parts to large, heavy duty milling operations. Milling can be done a wide range of machine tools. The original class of machine tools for milling was the milling machine. The integration of milling into turning environments and of turning into milling environments and of turning into milling environments, begun with live tooling for lathes and the occasional use of mills for turning operations, led to new class of machine tools, multitasking machines. There is lots of type of milling for example vertical milling machines (VMC) have a vertical spindle, spindle, similar to the drill press, but witch an X-Y table that permits positioning the work. CNC milling machines are programmed with a set of commands called G-codes and use CAT (V-Flange), BT, or HSK tooling. Gantry milling machines are used with large workpieces. They allow for articulation of the spindle as needed for five-axis and six-axis milling machines. Machining centers machine tools that are used to repeat operations automatically. Most machining centers are computer numerically controlled (CNC). Milling machine carry specification for spindle performance, movement and table size. Spindle speed is the
