The cotton gin was a key invention during the Industrial Revolution and formed the economy of Antebellum South. Cotton gin is a brief meaning of “cotton engine”. The gin was a machine that removed the seeds from the cotton fiber. To others, the gin was known to be a labor-saving device, which it was originally, until it raised the amount of slavery. Whitney first promoted the use of interchangeable parts in the early America. The interchangeable parts were used to assemble muskets in the beginning years of the 19th century. It allowed untrained workers to make a large number of weapons at a much faster rate and at a lower cost. Interchangeable parts made repair and replacements of certain parts much simpler.
