Elie was born on September 30, 1928. He was born in Sighet, Transylvania, which is now Romania (“Elie Wiesel Biography”). While in New York, in 1956, he was put in a wheelchair after getting hit by a taxicab. He is now married to Marion Wiesel (“Elie Wiesel Biography”).
