Ellen has a very interesting way of writing that I’ve only seen in a handful of books, such as Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse, I Heart You, You Haunt Me by Lisa Schroeder, and What My Mother Doesn’t Know by Sonya Sones. Her books, Crank, Burned, Glass, Identical, Tricks, Impulse, and the recently released Fallout, are all written in poetic form. All of Hopkins’ creations are thoughtfully
written and are written to make the reader emotional; the emotions ranging from tears of joy to tears of sorrow. The books always talk about the life of a teenager and the characters’ problems are very realistic. Her books, Crank, Glass, and Fallout, are loosely based on her daughter. Other than the poetic form of writing, Hopkins also uses different points of view in her books which make them even more capturing and interesting. From her voice, I can guess that Ellen is a very sarcastic person because all of her characters have a very sarcastic tone.
Like I said before Hopkins’ books are outstandingly written and thought out. I suggest this book for everyone because first, you get the advantage of reading, in my eyes, some of the greatest written text ever and second, there are morals in all of her books and they teach you the rights and wrongs of life and how to deal with real life issues. I urge everyone to read all of her books because they truly are life changing.
