In this roller coaster of a book, I am currently on page 326 out of 537. The author of this book is Ellen Hopkins. When I started this book I thought it was just another story about a teenager that didn’t have any friends but that all changed when she went to Nevada. Throughout this journal I will be visualizing, predicting and questioning.
To kick off this visualization, the first thing that really stood out and made me really think about what I was reading was when the main character Kristina or Bree snorted a line of meth with her father and her boyfriend. What I can see in the future is her getting a massive addiction to meth. She also started smoking cigarettes around the same time when she started doing drugs. She snuck out of her house for the first time after she meet the boy of her dreams. He is not the best influence on her as from what I have read; “Sounds like a reason to party”(Hopkins 278). The feeling that rubs off on me is that she is trying to get back at her mom for not donating enough time to her kids. That got me thinking and I wondered if she was going to drop out of school. With what’s going on in her life right now it could be a possibility. Earlier in the book it said that she was a straight A student. Now with her recent discoveries of drugs, tobacco, and alcohol I have a feeling that her grades are going to drop significantly. If that happens I’m sure her mother, step dad, teachers and peers would notice that something just isn’t quite right. The boyfriend that said sounds like a reason to party is a different boyfriend than the one she started doing drugs with. I can see in the future that the two boyfriends meet and she gets in a real confusing and dangerous
