If I were to obtain $1,000,000 in funding for the improvement of Elliot Lake, and to help make a better life for its inhabitants, I would increase the amount of affordable housing available in Elliot Lake, and also modernize and enlarge the Oaks Centre, which houses five different community service programs.

According to the 2011 Census, an astounding 86% of the population of Elliot Lake is under the poverty

Paying these high rents, and the rising cost of hydro, leaves little to nothing for other necessities, and these people definitely have nothing left over to spend on recreational activities.

This is why I would use a portion of the funds to purchase the old College Boreal campus, and one of our older shopping complexes and convert them into residential units, geared for people on a fixed income. There is a large area in the shopping complex which could be converted into a fitness center. Membership fees to this facility would be on a sliding scale based on monthly income, thus enabling anybody to 'join a gym' should they wish to do so.

Joseph's General Hospital, and it offers both withdrawal management (detox) services, and Residential treatment services; which are offered through the Camillus Centre. The Camillus Centre is a 40 bed co-ed facility, which offers chemical dependency programs for both the individual, as well as family and co-dependency programs.

Aside from the addictions programs, the Oaks Centre also houses the Algoma Community Care Access Centre ( a one stop place to access in home health care services as well as placement in long-term care facilities), Counseling Centre of East Algoma (offering a wide variety of individual and group counseling services), and Algoma Family Services, who became homeless after their building was deemed structurally unsound, following a mandatory inspection in the wake of the partial collapse of the Algo Centre Mall roof, last June.

My plan for Phase 2 of this project is to expand on the existing building, by adding more beds to enable a greater number of people to access addictions treatment services. The new centre would also have a lodge on-site for Native and non-Native clients who wished to partake in Native spiritual traditions; and a 'Zen' meditation area, for deep contemplation, or just to go and relax. I would also add a swimming pool and exercise/weight room which clients could access while in treatment, as part of their journey towards a healthier

Capitol Lake is a 260 acre large lake that has been a major icon of Olympia and its capitol campus ever since it was created. The lake is well-admired by tourists and locals. It has continuously attracted people with its gorgeous setting, and available trails around the lake to jog or walk. Wildlife such as birds, fish, seals, and other marine life have also added to this great nature experience. But what most people don’t know is that even though Capitol Lake is beautiful, the water itself has some major problems that are harmful to the lake and its environment.…

I completed my internship at Just Believe Recovery Center in Jensen Beach. JBRC has been open for approximately two years. They offer men’s, women’s, and outpatient programs. The men’s and women’s PHP(in patient) program is an average of 30-45 days. The Intensive outpatient program is an average of three to six months. It is a Florida model program, with separate residences for the men, women, and a coed outpatient residence. JBRC also offer halfway houses for clients once they complete outpatient treatment. My experience with the procedure and policy at JBRC has revealed to me a very big hearted program. For example, once a client’s insurance drops to an outpatient billing rate they are still allowed to complete PHP level of treatment before…
