When a patient rushes into an emergency department they want to be assured that they are in the best possible hands who will make sure that they will treated in the same manner as the President of United States. Even though all physicians are …show more content…
well educated and have gone through years of additional training but the physicians who have great communication skills and confidence in their voice are able to better assure their patients. Being part of student organizations as a Secretary and then President trained me well to not only become a great communicator but also a great listener and an analyzer of people’s emotions. These skills will serve me well in the emergency room in order to assure my patients that I will work as hard as I possibly can to find the answers to their concern and will go to any length to achieve excellence in their care.
Throughout my life I have faced many difficulties and barriers that have mentally trained me to better face the future challenges of emergency medicine.
There will surely be times in my careers when the situation will be dire and and at the brink of collapse but only the strong willed who have gone trails in their life will be able to recollect themselves and move beyond the challenges and learn from those life experience in order to better face greater challenges of the future. Emergency medicine is a tough specialty that requires a physician with stamina and a mentality of perseverance against all odds
My biggest pet peeve is having the same routine every single day. The greatest joy of entering the emergency department is that no one day is like the previous day as everyday brings in new problems to be solved and fears of patients that need to be conquered with the assistance of the
physician.
Everyday when I walk into the hospital I remind myself that I am the least experienced person in the room and that I can learn something from everyone who has years of experience in that department whether they are the attending, residents, nurses or fellow students this mindset has helped me to be the best learner that I can be. I want to feel the joy in putting patients at ease with the knowledge and training that I will receive from you institution. I want to see the instant relief on patients face who comes in with chest pain thinking they are having an heart attack and after fully evaluating the patient's history and physical and after conducting a full work up and assuring that patient that their pain is only due to gastritis instead of heart attack that they were thinking. But in order to do that I will need your guidance and need to will learn from your wealth of knowledge and experience. I would be honored to be accepted by your program and begin my journey of learning to conquer patient’s fear
