I believe that Emil is adequately responding to Tier 1 instruction and will continue to meet expected levels of achievement throughout the course of the year. Based on my calculations, Emil has not only met the expected benchmark goal, but he also exceeded the benchmarked goal by the end of the six weeks. He is making consistent growth and proving to be able to succeed in Tier 1 instructional setting. According to the STAR sheets, to accurately determine whether or not a student is adequately responding to Tier 1 instruction, you need to average their last three scores on their weekly probes. Based on my calculations, Emil's level of performance …show more content…
Determine whether Hannah is responding adequately to Tier 1 instruction. Elaborate.
When reviewing Hannah's progressing monitoring graph, initially it might seem like the student has made significant gains. While she has made some progress in the end, her scores have been inconsistent, and the rate of growth is below what is expected. Throughout the seven weeks, she made gains while also performing significantly lower on probes for other weeks. While I believe she has made progress, I don't believe that she is adequately responding to Tier 1 instruction. According to the STAR sheet, although it looks like the expected progress has been made by the student, the progress is inconsistent and often decreases. If you look at the probe score for Week 7, the student has scored a 55 on their probe. If only I were to look at the progress made for Week 7, then I would say that the student is adequately responding to Tier 1 instruction, but there is more to consider. Looking at the past three weeks, during Week 3, the students scored a 50 on their probe. Fifty is equal to the probe score recorded during the first week that the student's progress began being monitored. At that point, the student was not responding adequately to Tier 1 instruction. After calculating Hannah's performance level, I determined that her performance level is approximately 53. While this might seem like a gain. The rate of growth is what is important in determining if student is responding adequately to Tier 1 instruction. In this situation, you get a more accurate representation of progress by calculating the rate of growth. After calculating the rate of growth, I determined that the student is not making the necessary gains. The rate of growth expected to be achieved by Hannah by the end of the seven weeks was 1.2, but Hannah's actual growth after the seven weeks was .83. This is significantly below the expected growth expected by the end of the seven weeks. Overall,
