I am in need of the William and Brenda Ehr-Jackson Scholarship extension so that I can accomplish my goal of being the first in my family to graduate from college with a degree. My Education is one way I am bettering myself as a person. My father died when I was young. This left my mom alone to raise myself and my two younger brothers. I am the first in my family to attend and to soon graduate from college. I am honoring my mother and father’s dreams of me attending and graduating from college. It is also my dream. I do not have all the income needed to pay for my college education at the University of Northern Iowa. I need this scholarship so that I can finish my last year in college strong without any financial burdens. My financial needs…
I should be considered for the HEBF scholarship due to my hard work and determination; not just in playing sports, but for improvement. Whether it be soccer, volleyball, or track and field, I have never given up when presented with a challenge. I rather look at it as an opportunity for growth, something that can, not only strengthen my physical skills but my collaborative skills as well. Something that I have learned from participating in sports is coming up with ways to overcome obstacles and to keep trying. That means pushing myself to the limit and overpowering boundaries. The experience from participating in each sport have somewhat in some shape and form, taught me the importance of being a leader and working to together. These skills…
Often times you see athletes performing dominating blocks, making big hits, or making acrobatic catches. However, athletes have much more to offer off their respective playing surfaces that goes unseen. Here at Henderson State University athletes are supposed to epitomize what a college student in Arkadelphia should be. We’re depended upon to be campus leaders to our peers and set examples verbally as well as through our actions. Sometimes we’re seen as intimidating individuals do to our outer appearance but we’re empathetic to others just as others. Our athletic program is set on allowing our athletes to give back to our community and school through participation in various events that occur throughout the calendar year. By providing opportunities for student-athletes to serve, these young men and women make meaningful contributions to society. Teams as well as individual student-athletes are involved in numerous charity and community organizations, schools and hospitals. Some student-athletes have also created, initiated and implemented service projects/activities. One specific event, Reddie to Serve, allows us just this amble opportunity to show our gratitude and appreciation back to the citizens of…
I am Christopher Charles, an 18-year-old athlete, attending Woodland High School located in Stockbridge, Georgia. I have played on the football team at Woodland since ninth grade. My passion for football began with playing on recreation teams at the age of five. My childhood days on the football field were my most fond memories of my childhood. Even at that young age, I was driven to win and I always tried to do my best to help…

I hope to get some scholarships involving my education and basketball. I would love to attend any D1 school because most of them have great educational systems. One of my life goals is to become a lawyer. At first I would want to do my bachelors and play basketball all 4 years and try to go overseas. If I do not make it I would continue my field in law and try to get into law school. This is another goal that will be difficult. One college that I would really love to go to is the University of Michigan. This college has a great program for law but is very hard to get into. You need a 3.7 GPA and a 27 on your act, and it tends to get pricey over the years. Thank you for getting to know me a little better.…

Last year was my freshman year of high school and first year to be involved in the debate program at Lincoln College Prep. I have been involved in the program since middle school, which has largely cultivated my loved for learning and has given me skills that I find are of extremely high importance- not only has it provided me with portable skills and a huge amount of background knowledge on many subjects, but has also given me a community of people who support and encourage me in my endeavors. In my first year as a member of Lincoln Prep’s team, I learned more than I have in every other years put together. I attribute this largely to our former coach, who as an incredible teacher and mentor while he coached us. He was not afraid to teach us about controversial topics and to fill us in on current events. During that year, I partnered with a good friend from middle school. We did well in the novice level we competed again, which I again attribute to the coaching we received.…

Through all the hard practices and all the tiring games I realized that there may be a reward waiting on me. I started getting lots of letters from all different colleges. I realized that I could get a scholarship because of all of the hard work that I had done on an off the field. I hope at the end of this year some college has seen my talent and is willing to give me a scholarship for all my hard work.…
