Emily begins to explain to Vera what had happened to Beatrice. “Naturally I did not keep her an hour under my roof. As the story goes on Vera goes from thinking that Emily is crazy to thinking that she a disturbing, wicked person. “The little elderly spinster was no longer slightly ridiculous to Vera.
