who has seen more of how society works. Dickson uses the word "dreary" which literally means dull, lifeless or depressing. which puts into perceptive on how the speaker feels about being a somebody. Dickson then uses the simile " like a frog." to compare being a somebody to being a frog. Frogs can often be loud creatures and croak all through the night when no one is listening to them, the same can be said about these " somebodies" they are speaking publicly about themselves because they as self-important and constantly self-promoting. The metaphor "--the livelong June--" is another comparison to how they "somebodies." are self-important. The summer nights are the longest days of the year so this is an example of the somebodies constantly boosting about themselves all day long. In the last line Dickson uses the pun "admiring bog" which could have many different meaning to it depending on your view of the poem in its entirety.
