Effective communication is vital to the smooth running of a business and various methods of communication are used within a business environment to achieve this. Each form has various benefits to communicate effectively to their designated target audience. When communication is carried out properly it means the sender and receiver both correctly obtain the same information. Each form of communication will be chosen to which is applicable to the situation for example for a one-to-one/ team meeting will be best carried out face-to-face as it is the most effective way to make sure a point is understood properly, as it is a lot more personal and professional. Whereas if a company wants to distribute a monthly newsletter, this wouldn't need to be as personal as a face to face, it could be carried out over email. Therefore this wouldn't mean a employee would have to take time out of work and the messages can be sent on a large scale without taking much time to process.…

In my workplace I often have the need to communicate to my team and will sometimes use written communication via email to do this. To achieve this effectively I will formulate my ideas (as per the image below, I become the source), trying to ensure that I have used appropriate language to convey the message, ensure the message is succinct and does not contain ambiguity or superfluous information (these are some of the encoding implications). The message also needs to contain the correct information to enable the receiver to deliver the desired outcome (this is also a good way to ensure the message has been understood). Once I have ensured that I have the correct content to deliver the message, I will check that I have selected the correct recipients for the message (in this case my immediate reports).…
The books Martin’s Big Words was written by Doreen Rappaport and illustrated by Bryan Collier and I Have a Dream was written by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and illustrated by Kadir Nelson. Both of the authors and illustrators addressed the issue by explaining how Native American’s people were treated and how Martin and his words peace and love really meant. In these two children’s books having nonviolence and keeping the words love and peace in your head and acting upon what you are saying really shows people how far they can get in life.…
1.1 Effective communication is very important as to be sure that no misunderstandings take place. You need to be clear in your communication whether it be spoken or written. We may need to double check what we are about to say to ensure the other person can understand effectively. When communication breaks down it can lead to an unhappy environment and bad feelings. We need to ensure that we behave in a particular way so the other person can follow suit. For example, if you are polite, the other person will be too. Effective communication helps to develop professional relationships.…

Each different way of communicating has its positives and negatives, due to this certain communication methods are used for certain situations. In a business you might be put in a situation where you have to be formal to a client or boss, for this situation a text or social media contact would not be appropriate and portray the business in an unprofessional light. However if a correctly worded email was drafted up and sent to the recipient the business would be portrayed how it likes.…

As noted in Appendix A-A basic communication model, “the basic communications model is the starting point for analyzing the communications process in terms of the intent of the sender, the needs of the receiver, and the elements of the communications environment” (University of Phoenix, 2009, para. 1). In today’s business one of the most common and widely used forms of communication is e-mail. E-mail sent in a business environment requires a professional vocabulary and tone that is not normally used in personal e-mails yet it still needs to be conversational. According to Nancy Flynn, director of the ePolicy Institute and author of Writing Effective E-mail and E-mail Rules, “the average office worker spends 49 minutes managing e-mail daily, while upper level managers spend up to four hours a day on email” (Mardesich, 2010, guides, para. 3). With so much time spent managing the receipt and sending of e-mails in business it is important that employees understand the basic communication model. Understanding this process when sending e-mails allows employees to communicate more effectively as well as know when to use e-mail, and when another form of communication would be more effective. Any form of communication follows the same basic communication model. E-mail is just a faster and more efficient form of communication. Following is an analysis of three business e-mails using the components of the basic communication process.…
