Emt Reflection
As the semester is coming to a close, I have realized this reflection will be my last. When I enrolled in this course, I hoped it would be any easy elective. This course has been a pleasant surprise! I have learned an enormous about the health care system that I wouldn’t have learned otherwise. Information in the course is pertinent for anyone going into the health care field to know, which is why it attracts a gamut of students with eclectic interests. Almost each and every student has a different interest in the field; this course is helpful for all of us. The uniqueness of this course is my favorite aspect of it. The debate was a blast. I may have over-prepared for the debate, has I usually do for things, but I learned so much through …show more content…
The speakers are my favorite aspect of this course. Mrs. Smith was favorite speaker; although she is my advisor, I always enjoy hearing her talk about the field that is so dear to my heart. The EMT that came and spoke to us was one of my favorites thus far. He answered all of our questions to the best of his abilities and explained the differences/levels that an EMT may be. While I was hoping to hear some crazy stories he focused more on the educational requirements. I did not realize there was a difference between a paramedic and an EMT until he spoke to …show more content…
Next year I will be applying to graduate school and finishing my time here at Middle Tennessee State University. This course will always remind me that the health care field offers a gamut of opportunities to me. Now that I have knowledge about the requirements, salary, and schedules of so many health care employment opportunities, developing an educated back up plan this summer should be a moderately easy task. As Mackel said, most of us will end up using our back up plan. I hope that is not the case with myself, but one can never be to prepared. I have been looking into many options, but I have not found on that suited me yet. Hopefully I will be able to find a career that interests me as much as speech language

I chose to apply to WVU SOM because of the university’s large social role and association with the state. I believe that I can contribute to WVU SOM’s communal ties to help foster change and improve healthcare on both a community scale and a state scale. I believe WVU will offer the opportunities to serve rural areas that lack access to health care, an issue I hope to also improve in my local community. I am interested in learning about the university’s and state’s plan to address underserved populations. Moreover, I believe WVU SOM’s program will provide me the tools to teach patients about their health. I believe transferring knowledge to the community will be the first step in encouraging and changing to healthy lifestyles.…

The most interesting part from the lecture was the opportunity to traveling abroad and the experiences shared from the students. One of the students traveled to Iceland to study the soil and how it was different from the rest of the world. He said that the group he was with went by volcanos, climbed glaciers, climb rocks, and other fun activities. These stories make me want to travel abroad if possible because of the unique experiences each person brings back. Another interesting thing that I learned from this lecture was about this class offered at Ohio State University that took the class to a body of water in Columbus to examine different species present. It was interesting because the professor was one of the leading researchers for this type of work. Overall, the class looked interesting and unique.…

It’s amazing how much I’ve learned in the past eight months at Fortis Institute. It’s just so hard to believe that less than two weeks we will be done with my education. I must admit I will miss spending my time here. But most of all I will never forget the experience I received as an Intern Medical Assistant working with Patients.
Making a difference in someone’s life just fascinates me, knowing that I have the power to help someone. Working at North Belt Medical Clinic as a Medical Assistant intern is one of the greatest life experience. I will not trade it in for any other work field. Becoming an assistant also supplies knowledge of the most intimate interactions of the natural processes, giving a glimpse of processes that are not easy to understand. At this Center the patients are Diabetes related. As I spend more time as an intern at this Clinic I was inspired by Dr. Willie Harrison who helped and gave hope to many of these people, had myself raise some questions on the concepts and wonder what it would be like to be a part of the North Belt Medical team or somewhat relate to this field. I believe that Medical Assistant program classes at Fortis Institute help gave me an opportunity to pursue my passion for helping those with medical problems and let me feel at ease on the first hand training at the North Belt Medical Clinic. At the North Belt Medical Clinic I learn to Answering phones and making appointments ordering supplies, greeting patients, pulling and filing patient charts, calling in or faxing prescriptions, converting charts to electronic charting. Hopefully I can take these skills I learn and better myself in life.…

My goals for residency are simple – to continuously learn in order to educate and heal. Although I have been involved in the community in various ways for many years, I am truly excited to start giving back to society from a different perspective – that of a physician, of a person’s first stop in their most vulnerable of times. Family Medicine is a broad field that will challenge me in many ways, but I am ready to enhance my knowledge in a program that fosters learning through a supportive, team approach where patients and their futures are the greatest concerns.…

I was able to learn about the importance of effective medical education and communication with my patients through creating nutrition materials on the different food groups and chronic ailments such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart attacks as well as consulting with patients weekly to find out what they needed and desired to improve their health and how I could direct them to their needs. At Haven, I exchanged ideas with each of my patients on how they and their families can live healthier lives as I learned about their diverse lives and tried to make sense of it for them and others. Haven taught me how to become an effective listener, a fast learner, and an effective deliberator within a healthcare setting and serves as the foundation of those skills in my upcoming medical…

Much has happened since I graduated from the School of Public Health in 1986. I achieved my dream of working in a hospital setting when I secured my first job as a Management Accountant at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro. There I especially enjoyed developing relationships with managers from many departments as I assisted them with financial reports and budget information. Although I aspired to have enough experience one day to be eligible for an administrative role in a clinical area, my job provided a great opportunity to learn about the inner workings of the…

Although I wanted to hear that I had been accepted to the program, I was also prepared to be rejected. However, I had not imagined the possibility of being waitlisted once more. In 2015, I applied to MED while I was still in college hoping to spend a summer learning about the dedication required to succeed in medical school. I was waitlisted and the spot for me was never created. Fast forward two years into the present and I have found myself in the same position. The program is the same, but my experience is utterly different in a variety of ways this year. Over the past two years I have had invaluable experiences that have solidified my resolve to attend medical school.…
