Energy Conversion; Fossil Fuels; Attractive Sources of Energy;
Alternative to Fossil Fuels and Their Relative Advantages and Disadvantages
Introduction
Energy comes in different forms and different terms distinguished one form from another. Potential energy is called the energy that possessed by an object due to its position. Kinetic energy is called the energy possessed by an object due to its motion. Energy is neither created nor destroyed; it only converted from one form to another.
Conversion energy from one form to another
Potential energy can be converted into kinetic energy and vice versa. The classic example of this intra-conversion is a pendulum. Throughout a swing of a pendulum the total amount of energy (potential plus kinetic) is constant. When the pendulum reaches its highest point at the end of the movement, all its energy becomes potential energy. As it begins, a downward swing gains kinetic energy and loses potential energy. At the lowest point of its trajectory all its energy is converted into kinetic energy. As its proceeds to swing to its highest point it loses kinetic energy and gains potential energy. At the highest point all of its energy is once again a potential energy.
All of the different forms of energy are intro-convertible. For example: electrical energy is converted into light energy in the bulb, into mechanical energy in the washing machines, and into thermal energy in an oven. “The chemical energy of a molecule of glucose is converted to mechanical energy in our muscles” (James B. Seaborne, 2002). The majority of our technological devises are converters of different forms of energy.
What does it mean by fossil fuel?
"In a sense, the fossil fuels are a one-time gift that lifted us up from subsistence agriculture and should eventually lead us to a future based on renewable resources”

    Kinetic energy is the energy an object possesses due to its motion. The difference between kinetic energy and potential energy is the kinetic energy is the energy of an object that is already in motion and potential energy is the energy possessed by an object at rest. Potential energy is stored energy, while kinetic energy is energy being exerted.…

    Energy is defined as the ability to do work, such as propel the body forward by taking a step (motion). Energy and its ability to do work are measured in joules: power (watts) x time (seconds) and work joules = force (newtons) x distance (Trefil et al, 2010). Energy exists in many forms; kinetic (motion or movement), potential (stored), thermal/heat (atoms and molecules), wave and mass (Trefil et al, 2010) to name a few. Energy is interchangeable, thus it can be changed from one form to another. Where might all of this energy come from? All living systems and/or organisms are sustained through a process call photosynthesis which harnesses energy from the Sun for the purpose of providing dietary sustenance to the inhabitants of the Earth. Conversely, the Sun supplies the radiation necessary to heat and light the Earth, which is beneficial to all living systems and/or organisms. Hence, the Sun is the origin of energy. The focus of my essay will be to explore the current ways in which we use the Sun’s energy to supply heat and light on Earth, the advantages and disadvantages of our current energy methods and/or sources, and ways in which we can utilize renewable energy sources and reduce and conserve our current energy consumption.…

    Energy may be either potential or kinetic. Potential energy (PE) is energy stored and ready for use. A car stopped at the top of a hill and a water balloon dangling out of an upstairs window have potential energy. Potential energy is measured by the amount of work the object can perform. The other form of energy is kinetic energy (KE). Kinetic energy is the energy of motion. A car rolling downhill and a water balloon falling towards its target have kinetic energy. Because of its greater mass, a falling car has more kinetic energy than a falling water balloon. Similarly, because of its greater velocity, as water balloon that is thrown down will have more kinetic energy than one that is simply dropped from the same height. As these examples show, potential energy can become kinetic energy. Kinetic energy can also be transferred from one object to another: imagine a car or the water balloon striking a ping pong ball and sending it flying. Recall also that kinetic energy comes in six forms - chemical, electrical, radiant, mechanical, nuclear, and thermal- and that each of these forms can be converted into any of the other forms. For example, a battery converts chemical energy into electricity, and a light bulb converts electricity into light and heat.…

    Potential Energy is stored energy. Examples of potential energy are oil sitting in a bucket, or water in a river in the mountains. This energy is referred to as potential energy, because if it were released, it would do a lot of work. Energy can change from one form to another. A good example is a Roller Coaster.…

    Energy is the ability to do work. It is important because every object we produce requires energy; for example transport, growth, and development. Humans and all other things get energy from the sun. Some forms of energy are kinetic, potential, thermal, chemical, electrical, and mechanical. Kinetic energy is the energy of motion. Potential energy is the energy which results from a position or configuration. Thermal, or heat, energy is the energy a substance or system has related to its temperature, for instance, solids, liquids, and gases. Chemical energy is the energy stored in the bonds of chemical compounds. Electrical energy is the energy carried by moving electrons in an electric conductor. Mechanical energy is the sum of potential energy and kinetic energy. The standard unit of measure for these different types of energy is measured in joules.…

    In the article, The Empty Nest by Lillian Rubin discusses how middle aged women look at the idea and notion of their children leaving the home. The Empty Nest syndrome occurs during a transition phrase when a mother's child is coming of age and about to leave the dwelling. Studies now show that this "depression" was once thought to have the same wide spread negative effect, but recently has been viewed as the direct opposite. This article depicts how women of different social classes and marriage arrangements feel about the idea of their children leaving the home.…
