should not be banned because it can provides nourishment and decreases fatigue, it also can increase one’s mental and physical performances and it improves heart function.
Firstly, energy drink should not be banned because it can provides nourishment and decrease fatigue.
Energy drink can provide mineral which is needed for our cells to function properly (Why do we need minerals in our diet? 2014) and refresh human mind. It provides minerals and herbs as well as other natural substances that are quite beneficial to the human body (Daniel 2011). Our can get the nutrition such as minerals in energy drink, it can be easily find because our can buy it at any convenience store as compare with those pricy nutrition supplement. Not to mention, energy drink help to prevent dehydration. Dehydration happens when our body does not have enough water to carry out its normal functions (Diseases and conditions dehydration 2014), to prevent dehydration after vigorous exercise, all our need is just a can of energy drink as it contain taurine, an amino acid that can support brain development, maintains body’s minerals and water level (Sifferlin 2013). Additionally, energy drink can help to decrease fatigue. It stimulates our body and refresh our mind (Urbauer 2010). When our mind refreshed, our brain can function better and have better performance or more concentrate in our …show more content…
work.
Secondly, energy drink should not be banned because it can increase one’s physical and mental performance. The amount of caffeine in the energy drink can benefit us as it makes the consumer concentrate in their job. As mentioned in a recent study in Spain, two doses of specific energy drink that contain caffeine were given to the participants to test how energy drink affect both upper body and lower body load tests. 1mg/kg of caffeine improved alertness, reaction time and even performance in aerobic and anaerobic tests (Wortman 2014) which is said to strengthen muscles, increase joint mobility and reduce risk of musculoskeletal injury tests (anaerobic exercise 2012). 2mg/kg of caffeine reduced time to finish a cycling time trial, the highest dose 3mg/kg of caffeine increased jump height, sprint velocity and running distance (Wortman 2014). Moreover, energy drink can help in physical performance. As a result showed in the experiment to determine the effect on youth in sport games performance conducted by Dr John Sproule, head of the Institute of Sport, Physical Education and Health Sciences of the University of Edinburgh's Moray House School of Education in year 2010. In this research, 15 adolescents continued with high intensity, stop-start activity for up to 24 per cent longer after they play a long time in sport games as compared to who did not drink energy drink. Dr John Sproule stated that youth performs better after consuming energy drinks. (Drinks lift for sports teams 2010). Also, energy drink can improve mental performance, as 200mg of ginseng in a can of energy can increase energy (Energy drink ingredients and what they do 2014). As a result showed in a research, the young healthy volunteers performed better in reaction time and logical deduction, but improved greatly in the attention and mental processing tasks after consuming 110mg of ginseng twice a day for 12 weeks (Duong 2007). Therefore, this drink can help athlete’s performance in sport games or help them focus better to get the excellent achievement in their goals.
Lastly, energy drink should not be banned as it can improve heart function.
According to the research at the European Society of Cardiology Congress conducted by Dr. Matteo Cameli 2 years ago. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of energy drink on heart, the blood pressure, heart rate, left and right ventricular of 35 male participants, age of 25 were measured using the speckle-tracking echocardiography before and after an hour consuming energy drink. The results showed that the left and right ventricle function better after consuming energy drink, Dr. Matteo Cameli suggested that energy drink is actually good for heart as it give positive effects on myocardial performance (Energy drinks improve heart function, study suggests 2012). Furthermore, taurine, an amino acid that found naturally in meat, fish and breast milk (Zeratsky 2012) can also find in energy drink which contains 1000mg of taurine per serving. Taurine can help to regulate water and mineral salt in blood, and recently the researchers found out that it can help the heart function better (Taurine energy drinks 2011). As shown in a recent study in the journal of biomedical science, 500mg of taurine was given 3 times a day to a patient who has left ventricle heart failure for 2 weeks. The results showed that their function mobility been improved and the researcher said that taurine can improved cardiovascular function and give positive effect on macro vascular system (Ten benefits of taurine
2012). This experiment showed that energy drink really work in human body especially the heart function if we had used in a correct way. In addition, Ginseng, an ingredient that can found in energy drink can be an antioxidant. Antioxidants help rid the body of free radicals, substances that can damage DNA and contribute to heart disease, diabetes, and other conditions. Preliminary studies suggest ginseng may improve the symptoms of heart disease in people (Asian ginseng 2013) and avoid the human to easily get tired especially for those athletes who always need to their training every day and for those hiking people when they lack of oxygen.
In contrast, supporters claim that energy drink can lead to obesity. According to Professor Elaine Rush (Patton 2005) from the Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand, energy drink which contain high amount of sugar, caffeine and guarana can cause the body to convert sugar into fat and lead to obesity. However, this statement is rather weak as obesity can also be caused by other reasons such as unhealthy diet, lack of exercise or sleep and medical problems (Causes 2014). Therefore, energy drink is not the main cause that lead of obesity. Obesity does not happen overnight, it evolves bit by bit overtime, as a result of poor diet and lifestyle choices (Causes of obesity 2014). Furthermore, obesity will not happen if one’s exercise regularly or taking energy drink after finishing exercising. According to Dr, John Martin of the University of Chicago, if a cyclist take an energy drink before or during a race, he or she body will not have problem burning off the excess sugar in the energy drink.(Swan 2007).
In conclusion, energy drink should be banned as it provides human body with nourishment and reduces fatigue, increase our mental and physical performance and improve the function of our heart. Hence, it. If people use it in the correct way such like consult the professionals like doctors or pharmacist, this will decrease the harmful of their body and solve their problems such like dehydration and refresh their mind and most important is avoid tiredness when they perform their duties. In the future, the energy drink companies could come out non sugar or low-in- sugar energy drink to prevent obesity or diabetes. They also can give a clear instructions of the label of the amount that can consume in a day and reduce the high amount of caffeine to prevent addicted or too much taking it to bring harmful towards human body.
