Mathematics, Science, and engineering career paths are impacting today’s changing world even more by the day. Almost everything we do has an element of all three of these fields. For example, cars use math inequalities when you see a speed limit. It uses friction and aerodynamics from science to calculate the max speed. It’s design and build are a result of the evolution of engineering. No matter how advanced and complex our inventions become, mathematicians, scientists, …show more content…
and engineers will always play a significant role in creating these new future technologies.
In order to determine how math impacts today’s changing world, we need to start by looking into the past. In prehistoric era, the caveman had used math for his day to day activities. The cavemen had started counting in order to determine when the next season is coming. Then in about 8000 BCE the Sumerians started using adding and subtracting to keep track of the amount of crops they had. We see that math has always been growing and advancing. Math will continue grow and become more complex and we will be able to do things we have never done before, such as finding the end of pi or creating a formula to predict the future.
Science will also be impacting our future.
If we look into the past, we can find an extensive amount of examples about when science drastically changed the world. For example, when mankind learned that the earth was not flat but round. That one discovery led to more travel and also paved the way for later discoveries, such as gravity. Another discovery that changed the course of humans was electricity. Since that discovery humans have depended on electricity for almost everything. Surely science will not stop growing, at least not until the end of our children’s lives. It will keep becoming more advanced and complicated in the future. We will be able to do things that otherwise, would not have been possible such as, finding a cure to Cancer, or putting nuclear reactors inside houses to generate electricity, but still be safe .
A man named James A Michener once said “Scientists dream of doing great things. Engineers do them.” Engineers will always be a colossal part of society because as this quote says, Scientists plan and figure out great things, but the engineers are the ones who take them from the blueprints to real life. Engineers are the biggest part of the future because engineers are the actual people who build all of our ideas. If engineers had not existed it would be like having electricity without a lightbulb. As long as math and science are still growing engineering will be growing as
well.
I would like to play a role contributing to the evolution of math, science, and engineering. I know that the instructions said to pick one field, but I decided that I want to contribute to the evolution of all 3 by doing projects relating to all of these subjects. I had a paradigm shift while I was thinking of an answer to this question. I had realized that in the future all of these subjects will probably depend on each other. Simply put, you cannot just choose to develop one of these fields because it depends on the others. However, if you would like to know, my favorite of the bunch is math because it always follows the same basic concepts and there are multiple ways to get to the right answer..
Ultimately, the purpose of this essay was to convince you that I am not only ready, but willing to accept the challenge of the “Project Synergy” program.
