-Make sure you have memorized the definitions of AND understand how to identify all of the EPIC CONVENTIONS!
Grammar:
- Know how to identify the 8 Parts of Speech within a sentence. (Nouns, Pronouns, Adjectives, Verbs, Adverbs, Prepositions, Conjunctions, Interjections)
- How to identify the part of speech an adverb is modifying within a sentence
Mood & Tone Analysis:
- You will NOT need to have memorized the definitions of all of our mood/tone vocabulary, though you should be as familiar with each word as possible.
- You will be asked to label the tone of several passages, which you should be able to do with enough attention to diction (word choice), syntax (sentence styles and patterns), and connotation (positive and negative associations of words)
MLA Format: Be sure you can answer the following questions.
- What is included in the heading according to proper MLA formatting instructions?
- Where is the MLA heading placed?
- What is proper MLA spacing between paragraphs?
