What if you were told that humans are destroying the world we live in, and that this earth could slowly disappear in front of our eyes? How would you react, what would you do to stop that? Since humans occupy the highest position on the biological hierarchy we are responsible to tend to the plants, and animals beneath us, because if we do not it will in turn affect all human life. The negative impact from not having a sustainable biodiversity is; we will not be able to obtain necessities such as food and medicine. Firstly if we do not protect animal and plant life we will not be able to receive food from them. For example in the Mojave’s Dessert plant life is very sparse. Due to the lack of water the plants are receiving and the extreme heat the plants are not able to survive. This is leaving people who rely on the nourishment from the desert without food. This is causing many people to grow hungry and is affecting their quality of life greatly (World Wildlife Fund). If we continue to neglect plant life, and allow this pattern to continue we will have no nourishment to rely on ultimately leaving us to starve. Secondly we need to care for the animals in our ecosystem because if we allow them to become extinct that will create a harmful alteration to our food chain. Specifically in Africa with the raising tolls of elephants being killed. If the last elephant were to die there would be no chance at repopulation, creating an irreversible gap in our food chain (National Geographic). Consequently our killing of animals could eventually lead to our deaths as well. As proven we require a sustainable biodiversity in order to receive the proper nutrients we require. Thus, if we fail to protect plant and animal life we will be affected as well.

By continuing to cut down trees at a very rapid rate, it could eventually lead to the destruction of the human race. By clear-cutting forests animals are forced to relocate which causes a drastic change in our eco system. “Deforestation in the greatest eliminator of terrestrial species” (Greenwell). This is due to the fact that when we cut down trees animals loose their food sources and are required to relocate. Since they need to relocate this leaves the animals that rely on them for food without food. This causes a large imbalance in the food chain, which can lead to the extinction of all animals. Furthermore if animals become extinct humans will have no sources of protein, and will in the long run die out as well. In addition by cutting down trees we will loose our main oxygen supply, which is crucial in order to live. Without trees our air will be scarce, dirty, and not breathable. In fact the Amazon Rainforest is shrinking more and more as you read this. In reality the Amazon is slowly disappearing and may be gone before you know it (National Geographic). The Amazon used to be a lush, plentiful, and growing ecosystem filled with a variety of plant and animal life. “During the past 40 years close to 20 percent of the Amazon Rainforest has been cut down (National Geographic). Given these points, by continuously clear cutting forests humans will eventually die due to lack of oxygen. In summary the harmful effect of cutting down trees is humans will not be able to survive.
As proven humans are affected negatively by not protecting, and caring for the plants and animals in our ecosystem. Our existence on this earth is solely reliant on the lives of others. Without all of the living creatures and humans on this earth no one would have a chance at existence. We need to respect everyone and everything equally in order for life to continue.
