English is a West German language, that was spoken first in England, and it is the most widely used language in the world. In time, human population created a means of communication. This led to language being formed and has ben transmitted from generation to generation.
Today, English language has become a global language, used to connect the world on a global scale. Because English is so widely spoken, it has often been refered as a „world language“.
Having a world language is good: over four hundred million native speakers and roughly the same number who speak it as a second language; but it is not a solution. The entire concept of everyday’s reality is shaped around the language. If English is a world language, it could destroy the cultural differences, that make the world so interesting, by reducing different cultures and languages.
This means that, in order to have one world language, we have to sacrifise many others.
English is not unique. We can express any idea in any other language. We can say every color and describe any mountain, just as good.
But people sometimees leave their own language in favour of some other, modern language, with less words, over their own.
Learning English as a second language is prooven beneficial. It improves general literacy.
Lastly, it is not my call to judge: therefore, the English language was socially chosen to become a world language. He is accepted by most communities. One can not ignore the fact that English as a global language is able to connect human beings to work and understand each other better.
But after all, we shoul be able to preserve our own language and our own culture.
Therefore, no language should be a world language. The world needs more cultural exchange, and less cultural imperialism.

English is the only global language and others cannot compete with it, meaning many languages would die out as a result. Is this global hegemony a good or bad thing? This question may be a very common and forthright one however it is something that hasn’t been bare boned. To be able to answer the question we must first dig into the background of English and its usage, then moving onto the positives and negatives of this global hegemony before jumping onto a conclusion of saying whether this hegemony is a good or bad thing and whether it is a good or bad thing if other languages die out. “Perhaps a global language will…make all other languages unnecessary. ‘A person needs only one language to talk to someone else’, it is sometimes argued, ‘and once a world language is in place, other languages will simply die away’” (Crystal, 2003). This quotation would form the base of the essay as well the one following, “An indication of English’s international status is the fact that most, if not all, nations around the world have official government policies dealing with the status of English as a domestic issue…English is either perceived as a threat, for example, to a nation’s language(s) or cultural identity, or it is considered to be an asset, economically for instance” (Hale & Basides, 2013).…

Nowadays, all people say that English is the most essential and easiest language that people could use to communicate in different countries. As I read thoroughly the two articles, which are called “ English seen as a Co-star among Global Language” and “Can English be Dethroned”, I’ve found out that people more commonly accept using English as a second language in the 21st century. We all understand the fact that English has been growing in popularity largely as economic globalization is getting bigger. The benefits of English as a common language for communication and interaction far outweigh any possible disadvantages that it might have. English is a global language not because the world shows respect to it by accepting it as a global language because it has the characteristics of a global language.…

Language is a very important means of communication in daily human life. Human beings use language, both in written and spoken form, to express their ideas. In a wider scope, language functions as a means of international communication by at least two persons. In a smaller group whose members share the same language, for example, there are likely no difficulties in using the language since the persons involved in the process of communication are used to speaking their own native language. On the other hand, if the people taking part in the conversation speak different language, they must have difficulties or obstacles in getting along with each other. One of the problems causing the difficulties is the language used. Accordingly, they need a language which is understood by both sides, the speaker and his or her counterpart. This will occur when the speakers are from different backgrounds: nationality, race, and language. In this case, an international language is very badly needed, especially the one that is the most widely spoken in the world. One of the languages is the English language.…

Nevertheless, it is advised that some linguists’ claims for the protection of language may neglect its essence and true function: that is communication. In other words, if a language is spoken only by a few people, it is not a true language (Malik, 2000). Certainly, it is beneficial to other languages and cultures. However, the benefit is not because of the uniqueness of different languages, but due to removing barriers and making connections across them (ibid). Therefore, a language becomes extinct because it has lost the function of communication instead of other reasons.…

People’s mutual understanding has always been a problem when highly differing native languages are taken into account, like German and Spanish, for example. Thus, several different solutions were proposed, one of which was the inclusion of a universal language. The application of a universal language could well have certain positive and negative effects on the world populace. I, honestly, believe the invention of a new, universal language would be absolutely unnecessary; one of the reasons is that people would, mostly, stop learning other foreign languages, which would make human thinking and communicational capacities and capabilities grow even poorer than today.…
