English Language And Its Role To
English language and It’s role to Economic Prosperity

English is known as the universal language. Almost all countries considered English language as the most influential language in the world. It is widely used in all areas and in all aspects. English is the national language of the United States of America which is considered as the most powerful country. In consider to this, people strive hard to speak and write using English language. For example: In a beauty pageant, some contestants prefer to use English language in answering question and answer portion instead of using their own language. One obvious example is the contestant of our country. Almost all our contestants who join Miss World and Miss Universe used English language in answering the questions assigned to them. Another example of how English language was used by everyone is by means of communication. Like for an instance, if a Filipino goes to Japan but doesn’t know how to speak Nihongo, he/she will use English language in order to be understood by the Japanese there. In that case, they would be able to serve and help each other. So English language also helps in promoting peace and cooperation between countries. One more example of how English language is used in the society is in job hiring. Companies do prefer to entertain applicants who can speak well using English. It is also a plus point for the applicant if he/she speaks that language fluently. We could not deny the fact that as time goes by, economy changed as well. Sometimes in good but sometimes in bad. We, as great part of the economy play a big role in the economic prosperity. We, individuals are the one in charge to make the economy more progressive. A great conversation may lead to a great partnership. Tourism is one of the main ingredients in order for a certain economy to be progressive. The more tourists, the better. So in order to encourage more foreign investors and tourists, We Filipinos must be able to communicate well using English language. Similarly, If we had great knowledge about English language we could be able to work abroad. This contributes to the income of our country. To sum up, we must know how to speak and write using English language not only because it is already part of our society but also it may be an advantage for us. In addition to this, we must not still forget to use and prioritize our own language. Like Jose Rizal said “ ang hindi magmahal sa sariling wika ay higit pa ang amoy sa malansang isda”.

It has been almost two centuries that English education was introduced in India and since then it has been playing an important role in our national life, not to mention our educational system. Most people believe that the then British rulers needed some cheap native clerks who could work in their offices much like what Lord Macaulay called “a class of people, Indian in blood and color, but English in taste, in opinions, in morals and in intellect”. But I personally don’t hold this view. Even ardent patriots like Raja Ram Mohan Roy expressed that learning English would help Indians to understand the philosophical and scientific advancement of the west. Later on English became a national link language and made Indians united in their struggle for independence. It has also improved our languages and literatures to a great extent.…
