Chairperson: Assalamualaikum and a very good morning to my wise English teacher, Puan Rosnani and all my fellow friends. My name is Amira Ain Binti Naim and I am your chairperson for today’s presentation. Myself and three other panellist would like to discuss the issues of global warming particularly on the definition, its causes and ways to curb it. Before we start discussing this issue, I would like to introduce the three panellist. The first panellist, Dr. Syaza Nazura Binti Khahar, a lecturer at Islamic International University, the second panellist Professor Mohd Yusri Bin Jupri, the author of a famous book called ‘Our Earth is Dying’ and the third panellist En. Mohd Syazwan Bin Safaruddin, the champion of the international public speaking competition. To start off our discussion, I would like to ask the first panellist, Dr. Syaza to explain to us the definition of global warming.
First panellist: Thank you Miss chairperson. As we all know, global warming is one of the most talked about issues in our societies nowadays but do we really know what it is? What is the meaning of global warming? Global warming refers to the rising average temperature of Earth's atmosphere and oceans, which began to increase in the late 19th century and is projected to continue rising. Since the early 20th century, Earth's average surface temperature has increased by about 0.8 °C , with about two thirds of the increase occurring since 1980.Warming of the climate system is unequivocal, and scientists are more than 90% certain that most of it is caused by increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases produced by human activities such as deforestation and the
