The Two Mothers
At whom is this poem aimed?
To the sons that haven’t gone to war and the mothers.
The first stanza is one of the mothers walking past another mother who is crying. The woman is asking if that the reason she is crying is because her son has died and says hers has died to.
In the second stanza it is the mother who is crying that replies that she is ashamed because her son has not gone to war.
What is the point of this conversation between mothers?
Is to show mums how they can per swayed their sons and to make the men feel guilty for their mother’s shame.
How is this poem like this recruiting poster?
It shows how mums can put presser on their sons.

He makes you feel ashamed by asking you what will you lack (for example) when the girls line up and what he means by that is if you haven’t gone to war you won’t get the girls or the thanks because you, lack that thing that the people who went to war do.
2. Stanza 1 – Firstly what if you’re gay? You might not feel bad by not getting women. Secondly, what if you did go to war to only be food a serviceman? Also what is you were shot through the mouth?
Stanza 2 – Well what if the kids knew what would happen to you, what if they knew you would die, and be blown up or shot to pieces? France is a different country, you don’t have to be with the French to help them, if they die it’s their fault. Well at least you don’t have to see the gore, blood and guts; you can live a normal free life. Over all you could help your friends with things that they cannot. If there legs were blown of you could help then get their kite out of a tree.
Stanza 3 – YOU DON’T HAVE TO DREAM OF GORE AND YOUR FRIENDS DYING! Also the more the men talk about the war the worst it will be for them, they just bottle up their feelings and can cause depression.
