When instruments are manufactured, there is a specified uncertainty within which the instrument is designed to deliver accurate results. You do not need to remember the various uncertainties of instruments exactly, however you are required to know the probable range (to within a power of 10) within which an instrument should operate. Typical uncertainties are:…
The way in which we speak now has developed noticeably over the years from the way in which we use to fifty years ago so much so that it has almost entirely become another language. During the course of this essay i will be analysing the spoken language between both the liverpodlian teacher, student interview and the Lancastrian teenagers’ exchange of ideas by commenting on how they both use linguistic devices such as fillers, Standard English, modern slang, power and dominance; how they adapt their language to suit different situations and exploring why they do so.…

The terms written and spoken have two completely different definitions, the word written means language that can be traced onto paper and read, whereas the word spoken is language that can be expressed through speech and is generally heard once without the use of such things as recordings. Knowledge can be acquired from these two different types of language, in different ways depending on how a person learns and also which area of knowledge the language is being conveyed in. Written and spoken language are expressed in different ways and neither one can be above the other, in a hierarchical scale, in terms of the knowledge being gained. This will be explored through the investigation of which expression of language works best under each area…
English Language Learners are often at risk for language and literacy delays. Early literacy on its own is already difficult, and for ELL children it is a challenge they must overcome as they attain the ability and skills of the English language. There are many literacy strategies that can be used to help teachers plan instruction for ELL students (context clues in text, reading comprehension, nonverbal communication, graphic organizers, explicit vocabulary instruction, phonological awareness and much more). What teachers, parents and other adults need to know is that to acquire these skills and gain proficiency in the language it will take time. “Studies have shown that ELLs with no English skills need between 5 and 7 years to achieve sufficient…
What do you think about the communication? In my opinion, communication is an essential part of our lives. I say this because we communicate everyday with different people, at difference time, in different ways. We communicate with ourselves in our thoughts. Besides that, we also communicate with our family, friends, people at work, and people we meet, socially or professionally. Communication requires a sender, a message, and an intended recipient, although the receiver need not be present or aware of the sender's intent to communicate at the time of communication; thus communication can occur across vast distances in time and space. As a result, the communication process is complete once the receiver has understood the sender. Elizabeth Tierney (1998) says that: “communication as a process which begins when you have a message that you want to deliver to an audience. Your audience receives the message, reacts to it and then responds to your message.” After that, there are four types of communication. The first types are oral communication. And the second types are written communication. Hence, non-verbal communication also one of the types of communication. Visual communication is last types of communication.…
