Gladiator [glad-ee-ey-ter]: a person, often a slave or captive, who was armed with a sword or other weapon and compelled to fight to the death in a public arena against another person or a wild animal, for the entertainment of the spectators. Now consider the description of a football player [fo͝otbôl plāər]; a person, often a male, who is armed with large muscles as weapons and compelled to fight brutally until victorious in a public arena against another team, for the entertainment of the spectators. Football is essentially a modern form of gladiator sportsmanship, pinning two teams against each other without constraints or restrictions about contact and injury for the mere entertainment of the audience. The effects of this game are both physical and mental, impacting the lives of the men who have bravely sacrificed their longevity for their fans.…

Altogether, there are about eight organizational structure types. Each company has to find a way of putting these “pieces of the puzzle” into one well thought-out outline to represent the necessary relationships. In this case, we’ll be looking at the divisional structure. According to the text, “as organizations grow and become increasingly diversified, they find that functional departments have difficulty managing a wide variety of products, customers, and geographic regions. In this case, organizations may restructure to group all functions into a single division and duplicate each of the functions across all the divisions (Bateman and Snell 8th edition, 2009).”…

Once upon a time, in a small clearing in the woods, there lived a mouse. This mouse lived modestly with his wife and his two little tiny baby mice in a small cottage. Inside the cottage was a cozy living room with a warm hearth and two small bedrooms that were painted the color of yellow dandelions on a ripe summer day. They all lived together in that tiny round house, and the two tiny mice would often go out and play in the babbling brook a little way into the woods. There was Papa mouse, who was tall and limber, and as clever as they come. Then there was Mama mouse, short and stout, who had the best jokes in half the animal kingdom and kept the family entertained for days. Lastly, there was little Timmy and Alice. They played all day long,…

English 101 has been an amazing class and I feel like I have grown more than I expected. I was apprehensive about taking an English class because I have been away from school for almost seventeen years. I have not written an essay since 1996 and I knew many things have changed. I was especially concerned with citations. However, I found myself being able to work though citations with little effort.…

I disagree with the argument used in Peter Katopes' article, which gives his opinion on how a "Business Model" used in colleges is a wrong model, because this would decrease the enrollment rates and make colleges less satisfying to it's customers. Katopes strongly stresses that "the business model, which prizes 'customer satisfaction' or 'efficiency' above all else, has led in higher education to an imbalance in the relation between student and institution." His opinion is highly valid, but could very well lead to a downfall in student enrollment rates in general. Many universities are chosen by students for opportunities to take part in unique extracurricular activities provided, and even for a great time and bragging rights from the schools reputation. Also, with a strictly educational based model, which includes "teaching them to live and serve within a context of responsibility, prudence, and care" that Katopes believes should be the only primary focus for colleges, may dampen the students interests in the entire college experience itself.…

Arab Americans are being treated unfairly and they should fight like African Americans before them for freedom against discrimination; America has a history of fearing what it does not know which is why it forces others that do not fit their accepted norm to accept their ideas and laws. Arab Americans should fight for freedom against discrimination to show America that it is ok for them to open themselves to new ideas and new people.…
