SUMMARY; PUMPING UP THE BRAIN
A broadcast from CBS televised a video clip from The Early Show. The show was about how exercise helps the brain perform better and may have crucial implications for kids. The host, Dr. Debbye Turner-Bell, provides many striking examples proving the importance of exercise: A high school in Illinois substantiated the importance of exercise with empirical test’s, which showed how students in PE classes performed better in a math test compared to inactive students. A professor at Harvard medical school, Dr. John Ratey, states that exercise produces growth factors called BDNF that helps producing brain cells in hippocampus – an area in the brain associated with memory and learning. A math teacher told how they had swayed opinions on exercise; they play interactive brain games in classes to get the brain going and stay focused; compared to past where they were supposed to sit on their desks not doing exercise. Some students from Naperville Central High school commented on how exercise in class helps, for instance – Exercise before class makes schoolwork seem easier and taking a run optimizes reading. Dr. Debbye Turner-Bell finishes the clip with stating that less money is used on PEclasses, when studies show how physical exercise is needed.

As well as, how motion positively affect our memory and concentration, but motion is not the only key to success. Motion isn’t enough to distinguish academically results – we need to revise the system and hopefully
