Lengthening the human lifespan and reviving people similar to Jenna Fox will result in overpopulation.Population explosion will demand additional infrastructure such as transportation, homes and services. This will put a strain on the available resources creating environmental pollution. The available food supply and will not be adequate to meet the demand of growing population. Human beings such as Jenna Fox, with information implanted in the brain would be competing for few jobs that are available. This will result in chaos and unemployment despite of enhanced intelligence.
Due to this they will not able to support themselves. Enhancing the human life will disrupt the balance resulting in overpopulation. Moreover, people will abuse the technology and people will be brought back to the world, contrary to their wishes. Enhancing human life will result in unusual longevity that will create …show more content…
selfishness, boredom, and compromise in human values. There is a possibility that the parent will outlive their children, one would be in great psychological stress. Jenna decided to go to Boston so that she wouldn’t have to deal with outliving her child. Since a human being can virtually be immortal, they could become narcissistic, monstrous in their thinking and behave inhuman. This could turn the world into an era of terror. Furthermore, the organs can always 3-d printed (as in the article)and people would lose faith in God resulting in the disruption of order and balance of the world. In addition, families will often be deciding to revive the deceased, unaware of their wishes. As scientists begin to perfect repairing and reviving humans, there could be serious errors in the genetic makeup of organisms. Tampering the human genetics parallel with genetically modifying other species will bring new challenges such as new diseases, extinction of certain species, and creation of invasive species.
Manipulating the genetic makeup of animals and plants has already resulted in various health hazards such as cancer, autoimmune diseases etc. In the book, the original species of corn became extinct, and only the engineered corn remained. Corn is already being genetically modified, and its fate could be the same as the corn in the book. Genetically modified organisms can cause the host species to become invasive or they will escape from the original host and cause other species to become invasive. All these factors contribute to the disruption of the ecological
balance.
Prolonging the human life by exploring the secrets of the human body will cause overpopulation, ethical dilemma, and mysterious illnesses. Overpopulation will result in pollution, shortage of resources, and a extremely competitive job market. People would also become self centered, bored, and their beliefs would change. The technology could then be used for genetically modifying plants, which could then cause illnesses, species being wiped out, and the creation of invasive species. Therefore enhancing the human life must be stopped, as it will lead to the eventual downfall of humanity.
