The intense call to action I sensed compelled me to propose to my pastor that we develop a Christian Education Leadership Team. He was not resistant to the idea and of course, with me having proposed the idea, he said "Sounds good. Give me a proposal." God's always sets things in order and is always timely. Consequently, my proposal is to develop a Carolina Church Christian Education Leadership Team who will plan, coordinate and evaluate and oversee the Carolina Church Christian Education program and endeavor to integrate, community oriented strategies on the church's annual calendar. It is both an exciting and daunting endeavor. However, it is much needed if we are to be the church God is calling us to be in these quickly changing…

One important aspect of Christian ministry is education. Dr. Michael Mitchell defines education as, “the creative process of utilizing external and internal forces to facilitate the functions of teaching and training in promoting and attaining growth and development, enabling complete individuals to comprehend, contemplate, and contribute to their community and culture.”1 The growth and development that take place as a result of education typically happen in a group setting. Those being educated submit to a process that prepares them for events that come along throughout life. In the context of Christian education, this process focuses on “producing disciples who worship Jesus and proclaim Him to the world, utilizing knowledge and competencies acquired in the processes of reconciliation, restoration, correction, and perfection.”2…

As we go through our day by day lives in a very secular world, I believe it is very easy to question ourselves as Christian educators. We ask ourselves if we are doing our jobs exactly to God’s calling. Are we striving to teach the truth? And with that, what is truth? According to Gaebelein in his book The Pattern of God’s Truth, “All truth is God’s truth.” As educators we are called upon to cultivate “Christlike minds” (Moreland). This is quite the task, especially given our surrounding circumstances and constant secular environment. Not only are we, as educators surrounded by this secularism, but our young, adolescent students are as well. So, how do we accomplish such as task of guiding these young minds to the truth? How can we lead them to have “Christlike minds?” What should our philosophy on education be as a Christian educator? Well, we can start with the first and greatest commandment, “Love your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” (Matthew 22:37). This commandment, among other things, is a great place to start and feed off for all the elements of a Christian philosophy of education. My personal understanding of the crucial elements of a Christian philosophy of education starts with love, and continues by teaching with grace and truth through both the teacher and the learner.…

There are many essentials in the Christian faith that will be detrimental to the mission of the church if they are removed. But none can be compared to Jesus Christ who is the central figure and foundation of Christianity. As the Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 3:11, “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.” Meaning, if you remove the foundation, who is Christ, the whole of Christianity will collapse. The founders of different religions though may be bearing their names, will continue to exist even if you remove the founders. But with Christianity it is different. The whole message, history, all the prophecies and our hope for the future will not only be affected but will be gone to oblivion.…
