AeroCookies has started as a small business during fasting month in 2009. The original business started with just three types of cookies to be sold at “Pasar Ramadan” Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi and Subang Jaya. Before starting the business, we had been in discussion to in what business that we wanted to involve in for the 2009 fasting month. The first thing we had to do was to identify the needs and wants of customer’s during the fasting month. After identifying the needs and wants of the local people it wasn’t a service but a product which was food that the community wants. We had been scanning and evaluating the environment, their capability and also the community to further narrow down the choices that we have. We found out that the cookies and cakes are in the highest ranking of our choices.
We had been further do the screening to which one this is suit to our capability, environment, and also the community. In term of legality both are legal businesses. In term of monopolistic power, we found out that both businesses are not monopolized by any body or quarter. While in term of competition, there are lot of other cookies and cakes from local business but none of it dominant others. Somehow, we learned that both doesn’t need bigger capital requirement to start as a small business as it can be done part time and the equipments used can be from existing household equipments.
In term of risk, the cakes have a risk of expiring in a short time but the cookies have a longer expiring date. After considering all above, the group has decided that cookies are suitable for their business. The business was done successfully and all partners have the benefit and profit in their pocket. Since then there is a demand from the customers and dealers who keep asking if this group can supply cookies continually to them. That is how the AeroCookies get it business, which expands from a small business just for fasting month and then going for a larger market.
