One major difference is polytheism versus monotheism. In Genesis, there is only one true god whose name is God and no others. On the contrast, there is a group of gods in Enuma Elish. Ancient Babylonian believed that there are multiple gods and each city-state has its own protecting god. For example, Marduk is the god of the city Babylon. Furthermore, the only God in Genesis is an all-powerful god who has no enemy, like the king of all. The gods in Enuma Elish, however, are sort of Simi-powered, defeasible and imperfect. They are selfish, violent, easily to be angered and shows us a sense of immature. For example, Apsu was planning destroy other gods (his sons) because they were loud. How human was created is different in both stories. In Enuma Elish, Marduk used the blood of Kingu to create humanity, whereas God make dirt in his own image and breath into them to bless them in Genesis. God made humanity to dwell with him, to flourish and fill the world with worshipers, which is in good wishes. The purpose for humanity in Enuma Elish is to share gods’s hard works and being gods’ slaves to work for them. As it said in Enuma Elish, “…, had imposed upon it the service of the gods that toil was beyond human comprehension…”. Therefore, humanity was created because of gods’ laziness.
