Wind Power Position Paper Wind energy has been thought about and improved for decades and is still being disputed. The history of wind energy shows its complexity. Logic behind wind power is based on pressure differential. There are positive parts of wind power, such as its renewable qualities. There are negative parts to this energy source as well such as its cost to build everything that is needed to collect the energy. The decision to use or not to use wind energy is difficult. Wind energy dates back to as early as 5000 B.C. in which it was used to propel boats down the Nile River. The Chinese were using wind energy in 250 B.C. to pump water. Wind Mills were really perfected by the Dutch for pumping water to access land by the Rhine River. The use of the

Cons: 1) Passive solar heating may only be seen as an effective use of power if the climate is able to provide enough sunlight. 2) Active solar heating plans are expensive and in most areas, an active solar system will be unable to capture enough sunlight to replace the heating and electrical systems in a house. 3) Wind power can be a failed energy source, for wind is inconsistent, unsteady and unpredictable. 4) Biomass fuel is costly to produce and needs a substructure of fossil fuel for production and use. It can result in habitat loss, deforestation, and harmful air pollution. 5) Hydroelectric energy is directly related to how much water is available, thus potentially causing a drought. They also relate to interventions in nature due to damming of water, changed water flow and the construction of roads and power lines. 6) Geothermal power is also expensive to obtain and must be managed carefully so that it is not depleted.…

Fossil fuel is easy to get and is cheap, but fossil fuel takes millions of years to form and is not a renewable energy and it contains a large amount of carbon in it. There are some types of fossil fuel like; coal, natural gas and petroleum. Fossil Fuel makes electricity, motor oils and other things that are used in our daily lives. When fossil fuels are burnt, they produce heat, which makes energy. There are some negative impacts of using fossil fuel. One of them is triggering the global warming and acid rain to happen.
