Epiphany Personal Statement
I started my education at The Epiphany School, a Catholic institution in Manhattan. The Epiphany School provided me with a strong academic curriculum, with a centered Catholic tradition. I would learn most about my faith in religion class. I would excel in religion class and learn how God is present in everyone’s lives. Besides religion classes everyday, I would attend Masses during the school year and volunteer to sing in the choir for Church.
My family was particularly religious. My family always pushed me to go to Mass on Sundays and to pray every night. They influenced me to be more involved in the Church by volunteering to bringing up the gifts during Mass and altar-serving. While I became an altar-server, I developed a better understanding

I would later serve during Saturday night Masses and Sunday mornings. While I alter serve, I established a faithful connection with Pastor James. Pastor James was very open to me since the beginning, and this brought me closer to God. When I had conversations with him after Mass, I felt God was speaking to me. I would learn the Bible from Pastor James and learn how he spread the Good News of Jesus. As I got older, I began a new chapter in my life at Xavier High School. I would continue to learn more about my faith and the Jesuits. Also, I would develop a better understanding of being more involved in my own community.
An important spiritual experience I had in my life was the Kairos Retreat. During Kairos, we opened up in our small groups about problems we faced in our lives. This was challenging at first, but after hearing the leader’s speech, I

I haven’t made the effort to attend Mass every Sunday because of extra curriculars, and I am not as strong with my faith in God as I would like to be. When I connect with God, it is only when I go to Mass with the whole Xavier community. God is very important to me, and I want to create a better relationship with him than what I have with him now. I am concern that I am going to lose my faith and realtionship with God because I do not make the effort to learn more about God. I try to pray every school night by doing two Hail Marys, and two Our Fathers. When I feel very guilty of sin I committed or I am asking for a lot, I do ten Hail

While reading The Seven Storey Mountain by Thomas Merton, I began thinking about my faith journey, and how my spiritual life has been shaped into what it is today. I have gone to Catholic school all my life, beginning at St. Francis De Sales, then St. Francis of Assisi Middle School, and finally Roncalli High School. Exploring and learning the Catholic faith has played a huge role in my life and education. In elementary and middle school, I attended a weekly all school mass which I loved doing and being a part of. I remember always looking forward to the next time it was my homeroom’s turn to lead mass, so I could volunteer to read, or bring up the gifts, and to just be involved in the mass.…

Catholicism has always been the central religion in my family heritage. Each of my family members, originating back to my great grandmother have been raised Roman Catholic. Both on my mother and father’s sides of the family they practice Catholicism. My entire life has been centralized around faith and believing in one God. I attended Catholic School from 2nd to 12th grade and I gained a large amount from the faith filled environment. However, it was not until I was 15 years old that I became fully involved with my relationship with God and practiced Catholicism properly. The reason I became so involved with my relationship with God was because I attended a Catholic Youth Conference in Atlanta, Georgia called, “Steubenville Catholic Youth…
