The Equality Act 2010 is an act of Parliament of the United Kingdom which makes provisions and sets the requirements for strategic decision makings by Ministers of the Crown and others. These provisions govern the exercise of functions of the Ministers of the Crown with regards to:
• The desirability of reducing socio-economic inequalities
• Reforming and harmonising equality law and restate the greater part of the enactments relating to discrimination and certain personal characteristics arising from harassments
• Enabling certain employers to be required to publish a gender balanced information of their employees relating to differences in pay
• Prohibiting victimisation in certain circumstances
• Requiring the exercise of functions to be associated with the need to eliminate discrimination and other prohibited conduct
• Enabling duties to be imposed in relation to the exercise of public procurement functions
• Increasing equality of opportunity
• Amending the law relating to rights and responsibilities in family relationships and for connected purposes.
