UNIT 8-PROMOTE EQUALITY,DIVERSITY & INCLUSION IN WORK WITH CHIDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE.
1) Explain how legislation and codes of practice relating to equality, diversity and discrimination apply to own work role. ( 8 1.1 )
The equality act 2010 brings together all previous acts relating to equality and discrimination. The act applies to all organisations that provide a service to the public. The act protects all individuals and groups from discrimination. Early years settings must be aware of of these laws and have a policy in place regarding equality of opportunities and for supporting children with learning difficulties and disabilities. Providers must also regard to the SEN code of practice. The EYFS also states that providers have a responsibility to ensure positive attitudes to diversity and difference. The main points in my settings equality policy are- to ensure everyone who belongs to the school is valued and respected to ensure equal opportunities for everyone in the school and eliminate unlawful discrimination and harassment to make sure the school makes a contribution to local, national and global community my responsibilities with in this policy are- to promote equal opportunities within the school support children where English is their second language deal with any prejudice related incidents in class
2) Explain the importance of promoting the rights for all children and young people to participation and equality of access. ( 8 1.2 )
All children should b able to fully access all areas of the curriculum - HUMAN RIGHTS- all children have the right to learn and play together children should not be discriminated against for any reason
EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES IN EDUCATION - children do better in inclusive groups both academically and socially children should not need to separated to achieve adequate education provision
SOCIAL OPPORTUNITIES - inclusion in education is one aspect of inclusion in society children need to
