Equality doesn’t agree with what all is going on in his society and feels he needs to leave. He is disappointed in what the Scholars say to him “You shall be burned at the stake,”(Chapter 7, Paragraph 27) so he runs away. Runs away from the entire society. Runs into the uncharted forest and leaves everything he owns or has done all behind. Equality has enjoyed being out in the forest. “We leapt forward, we ran to them, and we stood looking upon the Golden One.” (Chapter 9, Paragraph 3)She has followed him into the uncharted forest so she could escape her old life …show more content…
and so she could be with Equality. The Golden One has found that she is catching feelings for Equality. He has noticed feelings for her as well, so he lets her stay around with him. Wandering through the forest Equality seeks to find what his inner self means. He goes wandering through the forest trying to find himself. He is out on a courageous journey to seek what life outside his society is like. He has found that he loves what it is like to be free of others. He likes the idea of not having to listen to what others say and he thinks it is good that being on your own under no rule is great. Equality has wandered for awhile and sees a light in the distance.
He follows it and finds a house. This house is nothing like what he has seen before. Being two stories tall and having only a few windows. He goes on to investigate it further. Equality and the Golden One enter the house “So we walked to the door, and we threw it open, and we stepped together into the house of the Unmentionable Times” (Chapter 10, Paragraph 8). This is nothing like what they have seen before. They have only ever lived in houses that hold 100 people. No color to the buildings. No nice clothing like what they find. This is nothing like the society houses. Being in the house they have found different beds, clothes, cooking utensils, and mirrors. The Golden One has never seen what she looks like before and has discovered she is absolutely gorgeous. Equality is amused by all the different things in the house. Life being in this house is much better than being in the society houses. Equality has come to find that he loves his new way of life. He loves not being under someone else’s rule. He loves being free of all the things the society does. He likes the idea of doing things on his own. Equality now knows he will be perfectly fine with life now. Nothing horrible will go wrong with what he has chosen
now. Life for Equality and the Golden One is good now because they are free. They are living on their own and are happy to be away from everything that was going on. They are living a better life now. To be free you have to remove yourself from what is holding you down.
