Equestrian Statue Of Bartolomeo Colleoni
The piece of art that I found most compelling was Equestrian Monument of Bartolomeo Colleoni, created by Andrea Del Verrocchio between 1483-1488 (page 266). It is a giant bronze statue that portrays a mercenary, named Bartolomeo Colleoni, riding a very muscular horse. The statue was created to honor this mercenary for the many great battles that he fought in. This man is quite an awesome figure in history and I can see why they would have made a statue to honor and remember him. I’ve added a biography of Bartolomeo Colleoni that I read below. The statue is very imposing, and Colleoni has a very stern and warrior-like face. It really gives the impression of a strong and fearless warrior that has seen himself through many conflicts. Overall,

Emphasized by the proportion and form, this statue not only gives the viewer a clear indication of the boy's social status, but it is also a good example of how the Romans were influenced by Greek culture. In comparison to the Doryphoros, it is apparent that this sculpture was probably based on the Greek canon of proportions. The body is well balanced, and the form is that of a well defined young man. The muscular torso indicates that he must have been participating in rigorous physical activities. It is very possible that these activities could have been training exercises which were common for Roman boys at the time. It was usually in preparation for battle. Young men were groomed to become soldiers, so it was crucial that they were physically fit. The boy's facial features are also idealized. His wide face and hair in particular could even be compared to that of emperor Augustus. These characteristics suggest that this boy was either the son of the region's ruling clan, or the son of a wealthy Roman official stationed on the island.…

The two images I chose for the analysis paper are Martini, Simone and Lippo Memmi, Annunciation with Saints Ansanus and Margherita (1333) and Brunelleschi, Filippo, Dome of Florence Cathedral (1420-36). The reason I chose these are because they relate to the Catholic religion in different ways. The Annunciation with Saints Ansanus and Margherita was the beginning of the Catholic art during the Gothic time period while the Dome of Florence Cathedral was not only a masterpiece of artwork it was also a breakthrough for the construction during that time and for the rest of history.…

Slide 1 – ‘Mahtab’s Story’ is an eventful novel, full of powerful and demanding moments. Throughout this novel Mahtab learns new responsibilities and takes control and learns how to grow up in her dark and complicated story. Slide 2 – ‘Mahtabs Story’ told in third person, has the author Libby Gleeson telling the story from an outside perspective by letting the audience know from ‘Mahtab ached.’ The novel is through Mahtabs eyes even though the story isn’t true; this presents Mahtab as a fictional character. Having a limited perspective of the story helps us identify Mahtab as a more naïve teenage girl and gives a more in-depth description of her and lets the audience see things from her perspective.…

Marble Statue of a Wounded Warrior is a Roman statue, crafted in the second century A.D., as a copy of a bronze Greek statue cast between 460 and 450 B.C. Though sculpted with obvious technical aptitude, Wounded Warrior is riddled with anatomical imprecision and is inhibited by a reluctance to depict the unsightliness of injury in combat. The first time I laid my eyes on this exquisite artifact, I was astonished by its fierce presence. The orientation of the gallery encourages the viewer to approach Marble Statue of a Wounded Warrior from the rear. Startlingly colossal and dignified, the statue seems likely to reveal a paradigmatic Greek warrior upon being seen from the front. A raised right arm…

The front of the sculpture is half in the round where the viewer can walk around to look at the details, but the back of the sculpture is situated against the wall. The material is marble, where the color was perhaps white to light eggshell cream color and some light dirt spots due to inevitable of time. It was hard to tell the color of the statue due to the yellow color ceiling lights pointing directly at the statue. However, due to the direction of the light, it created shadows from the face, following to the fold of the fabrics, and then to the back of the statue. The statue is in a contrapposto pose where the right leg is facing forward and the left leg is slightly bended at an almost 90 degrees angle.…

The two artworks I have chose are the Goddess Uma and Armored Guardian King Trampling Demon. The reason why I chose these sculptures are because I thought the Goddess Uma was interesting in beauty because she has four arms, has very long and skinny legs, and just the way the top of the body was formed. I chose the Armored Guardian King Tramping Demon because the colors intrigued me and he looked strong and was wondering at first what was he was standing on, his costume was well detailed and the way his head was not colored at all was also interesting.…

The “Portrait of Augustus as General from Primaporta” sculpture is a very interesting piece of art. The sculpture got its name from the town where it was found (Kinard, 2008). Augustus appears to be pointing in a general direction as if he is giving a speech. Augustus appears to be very young and looks almost perfect. He has a very content yet stern look upon his face like he is trying to make a point about something. The uniform that Augustus is wearing has intricate and detailed artwork on it. The top half of the uniform has a scene on it and the bottom half looks almost like a skirt. There is a sheet that is wrapped around his hips and hangs over his left hand. He is holding a staff in his right hand and it is very simple and dark in color. He has one leg slightly bent as if he is going to take a step. At the other leg there is a baby that is reaching up to Augustus. The baby appears to be on a dolphin that is coming up out if the base of the statue.…

At one point in time it was believed that there were multiple equestrian statues during the time before the Christianization of Rome. The equestrian statues were created as a representation of their imperial leaders. The Equestrian Statue of Marcus Aurelius created around 173-176 C.E and located in Musei Capitolini, Rome, Italy is the only surviving equestrian statue from that era. The Equestrian Statue of General “Mad” Anthony Wayne, located in Freimann Square in Fort Wayne, Indiana and created around 1918 by George E.Ganiere is similar to the Equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius. Both of the statues creators wanted their works of art to last throughout the years without any damage to them from weather or age.…
