Eric Faden's Influence On Disney Movies
Eric Faden's created a mashup of many different Disney movies . His fair use tale is not infringing copyright because he was following the fair use laws. He only used portions of the movies, he cited all of the movies he took from and gave who created them. Others think that this is invading copyright because he did not get permission from the copyright owner.
At the beginning of the fair use tale he states that it was not associated with the Disney studio. But he did not use their work excessively, he only used what he needed to tell the listeners and viewers what they needed to know. The original Disney movie is still there, he didn't change any of the movies to say different things. If he did then he would be breaking the laws of copyright. Not only did he only take portions of the movies, but he is using them for educational purposes.
By only using them for education, he doesn't

Disneys original works being creative is the nature of creative works. Courts and juries have held that this factor is way less important when the other factor is transformative.
The remix video created by Eric Faden takes multiple short pieces of various Disney sources. However, it only takes the information necessary to accomplish the transformative purpose and to accomplish and educational purpose. The remix by Eric Faden does not substitute for original Disney works in any conceivable market.
This remix video was posted on the internet, but if you try to find it you'll see that with how many views and subscribers they have they make little to no profit off of the video. Eric Faden most likely put this video out there for kids and young adults to learn that copyright is not okay and you could have to go to court. Most people in the world copy and paste things off the internet, but they do not realize that they are breaking copyright infringement laws by doing

For starters, Eric’s work is in no way harming the profits of disney, he uses the videos for educational purposes and he is not gaining any money from the production. Although he used clips from the disney movies themself, he made sure to mash it up to manipulate what the characters in the film were saying into showing what he wanted it to say instead. This goes hand in hand with one of the four factors of fair use; the effect of the use on the potential market or value of the work.…

We all know, or at least hear about, Disney’s relationship with copyright, and how they refuse to let anyone touch their work. The character Mickey Mouse alone has lasted 87 years with a copyright over its head. Disney doesn’t want anyone to use their work under any circumstances. Although there is a brave man, who goes by the name of Mr. Faden, who used the loophole in the system in order to educate others in the most ironic way. This paper is discussing the court case of Mr. Faden’s remix “Fair(y) Use Tale” vs. Walt Disney. Mr. Faden’s remix is an educational video about the rules and laws of copyright and how it works, but the entire is told through clips of Disney movies. The last film Disney himself worked on was 'Winnie the pooh and the blustery day'.The company of Disney today is split into many different divisions with the one probably most influenced by Walt Disney himself is the Walt Disney animation studios. This division is located in Burbank California. From 1966 until 1984 there was a severe decline in the popularity of Disney films. It wasn’t until Michael Eisner took over the restructuring the Disney returned into prominence an eventually led what now is called Disney Renaissance in1989.The Disney Renaissance is easily identifiable by many of the most cherished films such as 'Beauty in the Beast','Little Mermaid and The Lion Ling'. These films will go on to create legacy of excellence in Walt Disney studios to live up to. They achieved status in the industry rarely seen in animation studios and set the new bar to the excellence in story, animation and overall production design. The films during the Disney Renaissance acquired many awards from different institutions including many best picture…

    Disney Enacted Values

When Walt Disney started his company his goal was to “produce great visual entertainment” (Igner, 2008). An idea that quickly took off like a wild fire and grew into a dynasty. Disney still encompasses the visual media but also includes the additions of parks, resorts, consumer products, television stations, animation departments, and movie picture organizations. Each department has goals, missions, and values, but they strive for the same espoused values: “Innovation, Quality, Community, and Storytelling. Optimism, and Decency”. (Sklar) All these values are engrained into the employees by a university they created to teach each cast member (employee) who they are working for, why they are working there, what their goals should be, and how they should carry out their work. This paper will cover those espoused values that Disney strives to reach on a day-to-day, year-to-year, person-by-person basis; and also discuss the enacted values that take place in the magical Never Never Land.…

I will be defending Professor Faden. Disney is trying to sue Faden by saying that he was copyrighting his work, and how it’s not fair use. I think that it is fair use because, he was using it for education purposes, non-commercial purposes, and parody. Also he was only using small portions of Walt Disney’s work. How the judges decides that the work is copyright infringement or fair use is by, the transformative factor. The transformative factor is uses of a source's in a completely new and unexpected way. The judges also decide by the nature of the work. The nature of the work is how it benefits the public. They also decide by the amount and the sustainability of the work. The amount and sustainability of the work is how much of the work is…

Eric Faden’s Fair(y) use tale is a fair use because of several reasons. One, it the purpose of a Fair(y) use tale is very different from what disney’s movies were originally intended for. Disney movies were originally intended to entertain its audience. However a fair(y) use tale has a much different purpose. It is intended to teach its audience about copyright and fair use. Because of that, a fair(y) use tale is a transformative work that changes the original in a meaningful way.…

Musician Tom Lehrer said “I have always found it interesting… that there are people who regard copyright infringement as a form of flattery.” (n.d.). Although flattery was probably not on the mind of 2 Live Crew when they released “Pretty Woman”, the group’s intent for the song was to be a parody of Roy Orbison and William Dees’s version of “Oh, Pretty Woman” (Deutsch, 1995). The facts and legal reasoning behind this case will be discussed to show how the court reached its decision. In addition, the fair use doctrine will be defined along with how it was applied in this scenario. Lastly, a discussion on Fair Use in regards to why it is important to protect intellectual property, why it is important for society to have access to intellectual property, and a balance between the two.…

So, Disney made a stupid decision in my opinion, which led to a lot of negative media attention. But why did Disney make this decision? For the company it was an un-structured problem, this includes that the ‘problem’ was new or unusual. The decision that the company made was, I think, a bounded rationally decision because the company has it’s own copyright were they have to stay by. Copyright includes that someone cannot just use an image or picture, which don’t belong to him or her. Disney owns the concept Winnie de Pooh. The easiest way to solve this ‘problem’ was saying no to the parents because of copyright. Off course could Disney make an exception, this situation was a very extraordinary situation and in my opinion it was a very nice action of Disney if they gave permission in the first instance.…

Professor Faden’s purpose of this video was to educate people on the copyright law. He gets his point across of what copyright is. He does a very good job at informing or teaching others what copyright really is. The video is fun to watch and not boring like some other copyright videos can be. It gets its point across. It is also for a non profit cause. He uses the work in a very classy way. It’s only purpose is for educational uses and no others. It is specifically made for teaching others what the copyright law is. Students are not charged a fee for viewing the video either. This video falls under educational purposes. He only uses about 8 seconds from each movie and he doesn't use the main…
