One of the most world renowned speech, in Gen Z generation, “How Bad Do You Want Success?”. Eric Thomas’ motivational work has had a tremendous impact on the lives of young people, with this speech reaching 50 million views alone and counting since its accidental release in 2008. Its accidental release was nothing but opportunity, says Eric Thomas and his why in life comes all from opportunity. Eric Thomas was simply in a room full students with an amazing opportunity, and they just weren't taking it serious. Someone happened to have a video camera and used it for his thesis and put it on youtube. Almost two years after, the video was uploaded to youtube by a friend and went viral and that guy who recorded never used it for his thesis. THe end goal for uploading that video wasn't for everyone to see,
because back in 2008 youtube was still growing and was used as a place for people to store their video content for their own personal satisfaction, use, and storage.
A couple years later,Giovana, the man in the video used Eric Thomas’ speech in the background of his video clip to send to football scouts and the National Football League (NFL).

Throughout “How Bad Do You Want Success?”, Thomas draws from his personal experiences to make that rare and special connection with his audience. Eric Thomas is currently an activist, hip hop minister, author, and motivational speaker. Eric Thomas says that he is an example of the American dream. He never knew his biological father, his mother had him out of wedlock and struggled to give him a good life in the city of Detroit. Thomas struggled with academics and at the age of 16 dropped out of highschool and became homeless for almost two and half
years. Thomas mentions a lot that education was his turn around in life, that through education he was able to identify and perfect his craft in motivating people. Eric Thomas decided to return back to school and received his General Education Diploma(GED). After receiving his GED, Eric Thomas attended the Oakwood University and took twelve years to finish his undergraduate degree in Business Management and he never gave up. “I had average skill and phenomenal will” (2013), says Eric Thomas regarding his long journey to earning his bachelor's degree. He got through it by staying humble and buckling himself down. During those twelve years, Thomas created an award nominated GED program for other young adults that struggled with academics like him, which eventually gave him his purpose in life to have hustle, drive, and determination in everything he did. Eric Thomas is living the American dream, the ability to come up from nothing and to build your own empire from the ground up. He is what society would define as the “token” in the African American culture, a man with little opportunity and resources making it all the way to the top of our society. Eric Thomas continued his education at Michigan State University and earned his Master's degree and Ph.D. in Education Administration. Everyday, this man and his craft impacts over tens of millions of people around the world through his high energy messages about success that have all gone viral. Eric has turned his passion of helping people by motivation into his profit. He has worked with so many well known companies around the world including fortune 500 companies like AT&T, Nike, and UPS, as well as teams with all the major sports teams. If not Eric, he is the one who can tell you all the struggles he has gone through and how he didn't let that define him. He rose to the top even when he was all the way down and so can we.
