A Monster Calls, a fiction novel by Patrick Ness, would be rated a 9 out of 10 because it was a beautifully written book that grabbed hold of the audience’s attention and never let it go, but the ending could have been better. This book was chock-full of heart-wrenching, emotion inflicting scenes that could make the most stone cold person cry. The way that Patrick Ness brought Siobhan Dowd’s idea to life was extraordinary. Not only was Patrick Ness able to make an amazing idea into an even more amazing novel, but he also created characters that revealed the complexity of human nature and demonstrated the destruction caused by death. Another thing that was amazing about this book were the illustrations. Jim Kay’s drawings were beautiful, accentuated…

In She Unnames Them, the narrator’s name is not mentioned, but it seems to be referring to Eve. To demonstrate, the narrator mentions that, “I resolutely put anxiety away, went to Adam, and said, “You and your father lent me this—gave it to me, actually” (LeGuin 1985). This signifies that the narrator is Eve. The narrator expresses a sense of unity towards animals, because she wants both her and animals to be treated equally. As a result, the narrator convinced the animals that names are not important, they are only used as identifiers. The narrator wants to feel close to animals because of their existence on Earth and their connection with nature, which symbolizes an ecofeminist position. According to Le Guin, “among the domestic animals,…
